CAPTAIN CROOK JUST GOT HIS ARSE KICKED IN WA.

Turns out you can’t spin bu****it forever.

West Australians are over it…
And tonight, West Australians sent a message.

100 MW. THAT’S IT!

One hundred megawatts is what’s being used to justify industrialising one of Western Australia’s most environmentally significant landscapes.

A modern onshore wind farm typically averages around 30–40% of its rated capacity over a year. That means this project would likely average around 30–40 MW delivered to the grid, with output constantly changing depending on wind conditions.

Sometimes it will generate close to 100 MW. Most often, much less. Sometimes, virtually nothing.

Every project has a cost.

In this case, the cost is the permanent transformation of internationally significant wetlands, threatened ecological communities and critical wildlife habitat.

Is just 100 MW of maximum nameplate capacity really worth sacrificing a landscape that can never be replaced?

This proposal sits amongst internationally recognised wetlands, threatened ecological communities, critical wildlife habitat, an internationally recognised wetland and an important migratory bird corridor.

Once roads are built, 250-metre turbines erected and habitat fragmented, those impacts are permanent.

Some places are simply too valuable to sacrifice.
