Over the last couple of days, Jack and I have been absolutely blown away by the amount of messages, phone calls, comments and well wishes we've received.
People have offered to help us, checked in to see how I'm going, and said some incredibly kind things about both Jack and myself.
We just wanted to make this little video to say
THANK YOU.

It's times like this that make you realise just how many genuinely good and caring people there are out there, and I can't tell you how grateful we are for every single message and offer of help.
I'm a bit battered and bruised at the moment but I'm on the mend, and the show will go on!
Jack is more than capable of taking care of the heavy work while I recover, and I'll be right there beside him doing what I can.
From both Jack and myself, thank you so much for all the support.

We genuinely appreciate every one of you.

Well, this wasn't how I planned on spending my hunting trip!

Yesterday while I was away hunting, a local farmer had lost some of his cattle. I came across them and found that one of the cows had a calf stranded in a very awkward spot on the other side of a flooded river.

I let the farmer know we'd found them, and we went down to try and rescue the calf. I was very close to getting it to safety when mum decided she'd had enough.

She was around 650 kg, and she charged me, knocked me to the ground and trampled me.
The end result is 4 broken ribs, a bruised lung and a stay in hospital.

l've spent a lot of time around cattle over the years, but yesterday was a very good reminder that you can never let your guard down around cattle, especially a cow protecting her calf.
Things can change in a matter of seconds.

I certainly don't blame the cow - she was doing what came naturally and protecting her baby. I'm just very grateful things weren't a lot worse.
Obviously I'm going to have to take things a bit easier while I recover, but I want to reassure all of our customers that the show will still roll on as normal.

Our bookings and butchering work will continue. I'll still be there working alongside Jack and keeping everything running - I'll just be leaving the heavy lifting and harder physical work to the young bloke for a while.

We're incredibly lucky that over the years Jack has worked beside me and learned the trade to the standard he has. He's more than capable of stepping up and taking on the heavier workload while his old man gets himself back together.
I'm bloody proud of him, and it's times like this that all those years working side by side really pay off. So don't worry - Russell Barns Mobile Butcher isn't going anywhere. The show goes on.

Thank you to the doctors, nurses, ambos and everyone involved in looking after me. Sitting here watching these people work gives you a whole new appreciation for just how amazing they are.
I'll be back to full strength before too long.

Another big day on the road for the father-and-son team!

Today we were up at Picola, butchering 2 homegrown cattle beasts for the Vale family.

There’s something pretty satisfying about seeing cattle raised on the farm turned into beautiful beef ready for the family freezer.

Both beasts were completely processed on-site, and the Vale family now have their freezers packed full of their own homegrown beef for the year ahead.

It was a great day, plenty of work, plenty of laughs and some absolutely beautiful beef at the end of it.

Another freezer filled for the year!
Phil and his family from Kilmore are all stocked up with a freezer full of beautiful home-grown beef.
There's nothing better than seeing our customers happy at the end of the job - especially when they're holding steaks like these!

NEW VIDEO IS UP ON YOUTUBE!

This week we’re taking you into the shearing shed with us for a bit of father & son teamwork, showing how Jack and I skin and prepare sheep ready for the coolroom.

Nothing staged, nothing fancy — just a normal day on the job and a look at how we do things after 17 years of mobile butchering.

We’ve been absolutely blown away by the support on our YouTube channel so far. The comments, subscribers and people stopping us for a yarn have been bloody unreal. We really appreciate every one of you who watches and follows along.

Another week on the road with the mobile butcher!

Today we’re working in the foothills of Mt Buller, finishing off another busy week travelling around Victoria doing what we do.

It’s pretty amazing when we stop and think about how many different towns and areas we get to work in each week.

We come to you — bringing our equipment and coolrooms with us and getting the job done right there on the farm.
