What does Okinawa do inside a whisky cask?

At Suzaki Distillery, subtropical heat and humidity create an especially active exchange between spirit and wood. Shinzato reports an annual angel’s share above 10%, with bold extraction of flavour and colour in a short period.

Ryuka New Born 2026 offers a direct look at this process. It is Shinzato’s first release made from spirit distilled in-house through a copper pot still, then matured entirely in Okinawa for one year and seven months.

First-fill Oloroso sherry, first-fill bourbon and Spanish virgin oak casks bring together green apple, orange peel, woody sweetness and cooling spice.
