❤️ Every Recipe Has a Story
Ours begins with a woman we simply called Baba.
Welcome to Baba’s Cevapi.
This business isn’t just about food—it’s about family, tradition, and keeping my Baba’s memory alive.
Growing up, I was always Baba’s little sidekick in the kitchen. Whether she was kneading dough for fresh pogača, rolling pastries, or cooking enough food to feed an army, I was always by her side, eager to help.
In our Balkan culture, food is more than something we eat. It’s how we show love. It’s how we bring family together. It’s how we celebrate, comfort one another, and create memories around the table.
One of my favourite memories is watching Baba spend hours cooking the most incredible meals, only to quietly sit at the end of the table and watch all of us eat with the biggest smile on her face. Seeing everyone enjoying her food was what made her happiest.
Serbian was Baba’s first language, and it’s the language I grew up speaking. She taught me so much—not only her recipes, but also the importance of family, generosity, hospitality, and making sure no one ever left the table hungry.
Then life changed in an instant.
In 2010, Baba suddenly became ill and passed away. It was the hardest year of my life.
That same year, I embraced Islam and became a Muslim.
As the years passed, I found myself missing more than just my Baba—I missed the food that connected me to her. So many of the traditional meals I grew up eating simply weren’t available as halal options. I longed for those familiar flavours that instantly took me back to my childhood and to the happiest memories of our family gathered around Baba’s table.
That’s when the dream of Baba’s Cevapi was born.
With the love and support of my husband, my mum, my children and my aunty, we’re bringing Baba’s treasured recipes back to life using only 100% halal ingredients, prepared with the same love, care and tradition she poured into every meal.
We want Baba’s love, recipes and traditions to live on through every meal we share.
Today, we’re just a small home-based family business with a big dream.
We don’t have everything figured out yet, but every great journey starts with a single step. With the support of our community, we hope to grow into something our Baba would be incredibly proud of.
