The brief was choc mud, lots of balls of any kind and baby blue on the base up to white. I ran the colour scheme past my customer, conscious there could be other decorations to match. Free rein given!

The cake had a mix of big handmade balls, medium foam toy balls, small chocolate spheres and tiny cachous, to create the abundance of balls two year old Austin loves.

Much tastier than the real thing, and much more affordable too! This vanilla buttercream filled, ganached mud cake had a thin coat of fondant to achieve the crisp edges of a watch box. The lid is a fondant covered cake dummy.

I lost an enquiry last week after I said that no decorator can make a cake EXACTLY the same, even if copying their own work. I said this as I can’t set myself up for difficulty and sometimes my eye says to move an element a little. Icing and chocolate are temperamental, AI sometimes can’t be achieved.

If you let me know the details that are vital to you, or that you would like the cake very close to the inspiration, your wish is my command. Here’s my take on the left, and the inspiration, on the right.
