Time to replace your UV system? You might not need to.

If your UV reactor is still in good condition, a full replacement can mean costly re-piping, new electrical work and downtime you don't need. Often, upgrading the internal components or the controller brings your existing system up to current technology at a fraction of the cost.

Worth checking before you spend on a whole new system:

🟣 Reactor condition: any corrosion or damage to the body or threaded fittings?
🟣 Complexity: refurbishing can avoid pipework changes and long downtime.
🟣 Modernisation: a UV Guard controller, designed and made here in Australia, improves efficiency, adds features, and keeps spare parts and support local rather than overseas.

Good industrial UV combines reliability, performance and long service life, and an Australian-made controller backed by local support delivers on all three for far less than a new build. We'll give you an honest breakdown of refurbish vs retrofit vs full replacement, based on your site.

Is the water industry really serious about sustainability? We asked Dean Barnett, CEO of WIOA.

You may have seen a few posts from this conversation already. On this one, his view was clear: the industry has a strong focus here, driving a circular economy and setting itself up "not just for now, but for the next generation."

For you, that means the water you treat is part of a bigger shift towards doing more with less, for longer. As a local Australian UV disinfection manufacturer, that long view is exactly how we design our systems.

What's the biggest challenge facing the water industry? Asiri, our head of commercial sales, asked Dean, CEO of Water Industry Operations Association of Australia - WIOA.

You may have seen a few posts from this conversation already. His answer to this one wasn't ageing infrastructure or regulation. It was financial and resourcing pressure, and his view that the industry can't progress on those without innovation and technology. In his words, "that's really our future opportunity."

As a local Australian UV disinfection manufacturer, that's the gap we work in, helping water operators do more with less, safely.

This clip is just one part of the chat. Watch Dean's full interview on YouTube: https://loom.ly/BFNO2uk

We asked Dean Bartlett at WIOA one question: What does the water industry really need to reach its 2030 goals?

His five points are in the carousel. The one we keep coming back to: "No individual group will deliver transformation. It's got to be collective."

Have a swipe, then tell us what you'd change first. More here: uvguard.com

Will your tank water keep the house going through summer? The water in it isn't safe to drink as it comes.

Rainwater collects bacteria while it sits in the tank, and clear-looking water can still carry things you wouldn't want your family drinking. It's simply the nature of tank supply.

The good news is it's a solved problem. In the video, Hernando walks through the CWP System, the system we built for turning tank, bore or town water into safe drinking water right at the tap. It clears sediment, sorts out any taste and odour you're not happy with, and uses UV to deal with the bacteria; no chemicals are added to your water.

Not sure what your place needs? Tell us about your setup in the comments, or call the team on 1300 052 052, and we'll point you in the right direction.

What should you do with a UV lamp once it's used up? It comes up a lot, so here's the simple answer.

Low-pressure UV lamps keep water safe, and they contain a small amount of mercury, so they're not one for the general waste bin. Recycled properly, that mercury is captured and the glass and metals inside get recovered and reused.

So we've made it easy. If you've bought a UV Guard replacement lamp, you can send your old one back to us, and we'll recycle it for you, in line with Australian regulations. Just cover the postage, and we'll take care of the recycling.

How does your site handle used lamps at the moment?

What happens at a water conference? A lot more than you'd think.

Our team spent two days at last month's WIOA QLD Water Industry Operations Conference & Exhibition on the Gold Coast, talking with council and utility teams about keeping water safe without relying on chemicals.

The most common question we heard: how do you know what size UV system a site actually needs? If that's one you've wondered about too, our team walks through sizing, performance and integration at uvguard.com

Thanks to the Water Industry Operations Association of Australia - WIOA for a great couple of days. Already looking forward to the next one. Anyone else make it along?

Why UV systems are never a one-size-fits-all solution.

Not every water treatment challenge has the same answer.

Our team recently visited a flavours and fragrances manufacturer after one water point repeatedly failed strict microbial specifications.

Before recommending any UV solution, we took the time to understand exactly how the site operates, looking at everything from water flow and UV transmission to installation constraints and microbial testing results.

It's this engineering-first approach that helps ensure every UV system is designed for the application it's protecting.

Sometimes, the most important part of the job happens long before any equipment is installed.

If your site is experiencing ongoing microbial water quality challenges or you're reviewing your current UV treatment system, talk to the UV Guard team about a solution designed for your application.

Water quality can't be the weak link on a food processing line. That's why this UVG ARM40 Industrial UV System has just been installed at a food processing facility in the UK, fitted by one of our local installation partners.

We've put in thousands of these systems across Australia and Asia over the years, but this one matters: it's one of the first industrial installs for our growing UK operation. Good to see it commissioned and running.

Thanks to the team and our installation partner for getting this one done.

Have you got an industrial site that needs reliable UV disinfection? Have a look at the ARM40 and the rest of our industrial range: https://loom.ly/tr9IN-Q
