🤍 The White Rock Project 🤍
Anyone who knows me knows I like a challenge… and I think I've found my next one🤪
I've been thinking for some time about adding another variety of Plymouth Rock to the yards, but rather than taking the easy road, I've decided to embark on a long-term breeding project.
The goal to work towards developing a Large White Plymouth Rock while maintaining the size, shape and unmistakable type of a true Plymouth Rock.
This certainly won't happen overnight. There will be generations of breeding, hatching, growing out and selecting ahead of us — and I'm sure there'll be plenty of surprises along the way. That's half the fun of taking on a project like this.
A huge thank you to Maurice McNeill for allowing us to acquire the big Rhode Island white fella who is going to play an important part in getting this project underway, we have named him “Maury”. He's an impressive bird and we're very excited to see what he can contribute.
I'll be sharing the journey along the way-the foundation matings, the offspring, the good, the bad, the unexpected and, hopefully, the gradual progression towards what we're trying to achieve.
It may take a few years, but that's what makes breeding interesting.
