Heading to the farm at Big Hill, to collect some more Mali Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil or
Mali Estate EVOO as they say in the industry.
I know the 500ml bottles have been filled, with only their labels needing to go on. However the 750ml bottles are a different story. There is currently a large stack of bottles, empty, with all the oil in the large stainless steel container, in the cool room where the temperature remains at constant 17C.
Like most things at Mali Estate the bottling is also done by hand too.
Every bottle is filled from the large stainless steel containers in the cool room, then the cap is applied, then really applied with the help of a rubber mallet and then the cap twisted on until firm. The cap remains the most challenging part of this process! The bottle may then need to be cleaned - especially if your skill level is not yet up to scratch at turning off the flow of oil at the right time to prevent an overflow!
The labels are then applied to the front and back and the best before label added too.
You could say there is a little bit of love in every bottle, as well as a the delicious fresh EVOO.
A lovely Christmas gift.
