Flowstone Wines Flowstone is a tiny little grapegrower and winemaker just south of the Margaret River township, in the beautiful Forest Grove area.

Flowstone is the distillation of the incredible winemaking expertise of Stuart Pym and Janice McDonald, and the unbridled passion for great wine of Phil Giglia. We are committed to growing and making wines that represent the region and vineyard site, and wines that tell our story.

The artwork on our Queen of the Earth labels is inspired by a piece called “Typhoon” by artist Deb Zibah. It perfectly reflects the caves, soil strata, vegetation and water flows of the Margaret River landscape. A deep connection with the land is the foundation of Flowstone Wines; from the vineyard to the glass.

It’s World Sauvignon Blanc Day! Words from Stuart on this amazing varietal and the Flowstone approach:
“Sauvignon Blanc can be a tricky one. Most people think of it as a bright aromatic casual wine, but is can be serious and sophisticated. For my time touring and visiting a number of producers in Sancerre and Pouilly Fume and enjoying their wines, I have really come to appreciate just what Sauvignon Blanc can be, and it has been my goal with Flowstone to show this texture, complexity and focus with Margaret River grapes…and to challenge most peoples expectations of this lovely variety”

It’s hard yakka digging out the fermentation vessels!!!
The last of our Cabernet has been put through the press, so vintage is officially over. However, the work never stops - now we need to tend to all the wines in barrel, tank and ceramic vessel. It’s a labour of love at Flowstone Wines 😁

Autumn is a great time to enjoy Touriga Nacional. One of Portugal’s finest grape varieties, we love making our own versions here in southern Margaret River. Choose from our 2023 Flowstone Touriga - what a cracker vintage! - or our fortified 2020 Vintage Touriga. Both are drinking superbly and are the perfect pairing with your dinner or delicious cheese platter on a cold evening.

An autumn vineyard, Touriga changing colour, a winery full of barrels and Cabernet in the making. Vintage 2026.

Today, we plunge into Grenache! This vintage we’re mixing things up with two extraction methods - one is the traditional hand plunge 3 times a day and the other is the use of stainless steel heading boards. These boards keep all of the grape skins in the fermenting wine, allowing gentle and consistent extraction of flavour and tannins. Both batches will eventually be blended with Shiraz for our 2026 Moonmilk Red. Wine nerds, read on: we’ll be pressing these off early to retain brightness and fruit characters. Throw in some whole berry carbonic maceration in from the hand plunge and the result is soft, supple wines with balanced structure.

What is happening here??? Why are there lovely grapes on the ground? This is our Touriga Nacional (a delicious Portuguese variety) block. It was carrying a very heavy crop so we removed some of the fruit to ensure the remaining grapes have optimal ripening potential - a standard practice in the industry when yields are too high. The second image is of our barrel ferments, currently in the cool room to ensure slow and gentle fermentation.

A quote from Stuart, “it may be a difficult variety to spell and say, but they are the most beautiful grapes”. Gewürztraminer harvest is done and dusted!

We picked our Chardonnay this morning and it’s looking and tasting amazing! Vintage 2026 promises to be a good one - lots of hard work ahead but the reward is well worth it.
