Modern Lebanese Cooking represents many generations of traditional Lebanese recipes. The recipes have been passed down mother to daughter over hundreds of years. The book’s author Joy Najar is the second youngest of ten children born to Australian Lebanese parents whose ancestors first arrived in Australia in the 1850’s. The book, now in its third edition, offers recipes covering the full range of foods generally eaten in The Lebanon including an ingredients section, the mezze, soups, a wide range of vegetarian dishes, salads, preserves, seafood, poultry, red meats, pastries and desserts. In addition to this there are also several personal anecdotes by the author. The nutritional value of this food has been well documented by many dieticians and doctors and Joy herself stands as proof positive now in her ninth decade. This book has already become a treasure for all who own a copy and is ideal for anybody interested in middle eastern cuisine. All profits from this book will be donated to Father Chris Riley’s Youth Off The Streets.
