Thank you for your love The Hunter's Pantry!!

Byron Bay Crackers are the bomb and under no circumstances 'open' the pack to 'try' a sample - they are just too irresistible to stop.

The story of these beloved seeded crackers begins with a traditional Danish recipe for Knaekbroed, a simple, crispy flatbread passed down through generations. A treasured version of this recipe came into the hands of a small artisan in Bangalow, Australia, who discovered it via a sister-in-law. The original handwritten recipe still lives safely in her cherished collection of family recipes.

In 2015, she began experimenting with a home-kitchen variation, and friends quickly became hooked on the slightly salted flavour and delicate, crispy texture. Encouraged by a close friend and respected chef to take the crackers beyond the kitchen, she set out to share her creation more widely—turning a family tradition into a product loved by foodies and home cooks alike.

Today, these handcrafted seeded crackers are a shining example of small-scale, thoughtful food production: a simple recipe, made with care, and bursting with flavour.

There's no getting around it - a cracker is an essential ingredient on a cheese board. Our go-to is Byron Bay Crackers. Why? The crackers are just simply fantastic. And - there's a gluten-free option!

About Byron Bay Crackers

Our story began with a traditional recipe for the Danish seeded flat bread know as Knaekbroed. A version of this simple recipe, passed between generations of friends and family across the world, came into my hands via my sister-in-law. In fact, I still have a photocopy of the original handwritten recipe stowed away in my beloved recipe file collection.

I began making a variation of the Knaekbroed recipe in our home kitchen here in Bangalow, Australia in 2015. My food loving friends were instantly addicted to the slightly salted flavour and crispy texture of the seeded crackers recipe. One great friend, an admired Chef and ideas girl, suggested I should think about taking the crackers beyond the home kitchen.

The seed was planted, but it wasn’t until a few years later that my husband Mark (Cracker Finance Officer – CFO) and I decided to think more seriously about giving the crackers business a go.

Byron Bay Crackers was born in 2017 and that original recipe was transformed into our first and most popular salt & seed cracker.
