A little progress update from the yards 👌

Today we’re laying GeoHex grids for the new draft.

When you’re working remotely, you have to think about what’s practical. Concrete is a big exercise out here, so we’ve chosen GeoHex grids filled with crusher dust instead.

Easy for us to install (1 person job), ready to use the same day, drains well, helps prevent erosion and once filled, creates a tough surface that will handle plenty of busy days in the yards.

Plus… after a few full days drafting and weighing, our feet will definitely appreciate the bit of extra cushioning 😂

One rainfall event. Two very different outcomes.

After receiving 48mm of rain at the start of July, we were keen to get home from and see what the country had done with it.

So this morning we jumped in the buggy and went for a drive.

There’s always a bit of excitement getting out after rain, especially after a dry period, seeing what has responded and where that moisture has gone.

And what a beautiful run we’ve been having… sunny days, mild mornings and not a frost in sight. Hard to believe we’re in the middle of July.

These two paddocks received the exact same rainfall, but the difference couldn’t be clearer.

The paddock on the left has been part of our ongoing invasive woody w**d control trials as we work towards reclaiming productive grazing country. With the competition removed, our native pastures have been able to respond, turning that rainfall into valuable feed for livestock.

The paddock on the right tells a different story. From a distance it looks green, but closer inspection shows that much of that green is invasive woody growth, with very little productive pasture remaining underneath.

Green doesn’t always mean productive.

Woody w**ds compete with native pastures for moisture, sunlight and nutrients, limiting the country’s ability to turn rainfall into feed.

Reclaiming this country is a long-term commitment and unfortunetly theres no "quick fix". But each step towards improving the productivity and resilience of our land ensures future rainfall events can be captured and converted into valuable grazing feed.

For us, it’s about making the most of the country we have and leaving it in better shape for the generations ahead.

Keep an eye out for updates on our recent trail with Valley Drone Services.

Just 8 weeks old.

These lambs are a reflection of the strength of our commercial ewe base.

Their mothers were joined under less-than-ideal conditions, yet still conceived, lambed and raised this mob to where they are today.

For us, that's what commercial breeding is about—fertile, functional females that continue to perform when conditions aren't always in their favour.

Our White Tag maidens have been classed into our premium commercial line and are now joined, ready for Spring 2026 lambing.

We're looking forward to seeing the next generation they produce.

The Far West of New South Wales has always been our greatest selection tool.

Every season presents new challenges and opportunities, helping us identify the sheep that are capable of thriving under commercial conditions.

Rather than breeding around the environment, we've allowed the environment to shape our genetics.

The result is a flock built on practicality, resilience, and performance—traits that remain just as important today as they were when we first began developing our breeding program.

Behind every successful ram is a strong maternal line.

For more than 20 years, we've refined our ewe base under commercial conditions, selecting females that consistently demonstrate fertility, longevity, mothering ability, and productivity.

These maternal genetics form the foundation of our breeding program and continue to drive the performance of the sheep we produce today.

Strong ewe families don't just influence one generation—they shape entire breeding programs.

Introducing Black Jack Dorper & White Dorper Stud.
Built on proven maternal genetics and supported by rigorous selection criteria, every sheep retained within the stud must demonstrate the traits we value most: structural soundness, productivity, adaptability and performance.

Our goal isn't simply to breed impressive sheep, it's to produce genetics that deliver measurable results for commercial producers.

Because strong bloodlines are only valuable when they consistently perform.

Our connection to livestock production spans six generations in Australia, and while much has changed over that time, the principles remain the same.

Work hard. Keep improving. Build livestock that performs.

Over the past two decades we've focused on developing Dorper sheep that combine resilience, functionality, and commercial relevance. Every breeding decision is made with long-term performance in mind, ensuring our sheep are equipped to thrive in the environments they're bred for.

Our story continues to evolve, but the foundation remains firmly grounded in the country and industry we know best.
