I do also have a homemade brooder that my Dad made me I use as well. There is a few posts on that one as well. I will tour that one another day as I haven’t cleaned it out yet haha.

These chicks are NOT for sale sorry. It’s a pen I’m working towards next year. I have Dark Brahmas and Milliluer Pekins in here.

Went to Bunnings today and brought some Sugar Cane Mulch for all the pens today!

My frizzles and Legbars have been scratching up a storm to spread it out! Don’t worry all the pens will get some!

That means happy chooks, dry pens and no more mud! And also gives the chookies something to scratch around in since they can’t free range atm.

Thankyou to one of my lovely followers that suggested to use sugar cane mulch!

Eggciting news!! I am branching out this year and will be posting eggs!

I will have Frizzle Pekins, Cream Legbars, Buff Orpingtons, Millifluer Belgium Duccles and my barnyard fun pen!

Ok everyone I need some input and help!

I would like to know what breeds everyone is interested in and what they think is the most popular?

My current pens for this year are;
Buff Orpingtons Standard
Belgium Duccles Millifluer
Pekin Frizzles
Cream Legbars

I do have other pens that consist of Brahmas and Pekins but they are not up to the standard colours I want yet, so they are a work in progress. I also have a “fun” pen that consists of mixed chooks where you can hatch out random babies for the fun of it!

Currently in my incubator are; naked necks, dark Brahma and Millifluer Pekins. They will be pens I’m working on for next year!

I do get asked all the time what my favourite breed of chicken is! I must say I have a few favourites, it’s hard to only have one.

But my one true favourite breed of roosters has to be the Orpington’s!
This boy is a Buff Orpington and his name is Manny. I have found all the roosters I’ve ever owned in this breed are big gentle giants that just want to be carried around and snuggled haha.

I will have a list of what fertile eggs and prices for this year available soon. I am currently checking fertility rates. And I am going to be posting eggs this year! Very excited.
