In preparation for all the wee lambs being born, I've started to knit lamb jumpers incase I end up with bottle babies, cold frosts or graziers warnings.

I can't imagine anything more sweet than lambs bouncing around in wooly jumpers and nothing more sad than raising a ewe all year and losing her lamb to hyperthermia. Plus it's a great excuse to pick up my needles again which I haven't done since starting the farm.

"Name needed". This handsome boy is my.new ram. He is busy dating all the single ladies and living his best life.

Last weekend he had a mani and pedi in preparation for his dating career. He was a pure gentleman throughout the process.

He is a rascal though and decided quarantine with some wether lambs was not for him and when he couldn't go under the fence channeled his inner gymnast and clear lept over it.

I'm considering "Buster" but keen to hear your thoughts on a name for this new romeo.

It's market time again and our first time at Devonport Farmers Market. These lambs will be sensational. Pure grass fed, no grain on certified organic pasture. 9 month old Hampshire Down wether lambs.
We talk about different types of grapes for wine, fish, apples but lamb breeds are never spoken about. A heritage breed, these lambs are sweet, grassy and earthy with a flavoursome intramuscular fat. I hope to see you tomorrow.

We are delighted to be featured on the menu tonight at Appleby's Meditteraneo at Boat Harbour. This handsome boy is Teddy. The wether with nine lives. He is hands down my favourite sheep and comes up for a chat (and hopefully some seaweed meal) when I change out the trough water.
He nearly accidentally got put on a truck during shearing and drafting last week and thankfully is marked with a special tag so I can see him clearly. I had to find him a job apart from official grass eater. He is going to keep the new ram company and hopefully out of mischief.

Is there any better smell than coming home to a meal in the slow cooker that's been gently simmering all day?

It was the first place my mind went to when I picked up the lamb from the butcher this morning and saw these beautiful chunky shanks.

They are the size of small roasts and will adore the slow cooker treatment surrounded by all your favourite in season vegies.

It's been a busy week! This was a brilliant 2 day workshop presented by Nic Kentish. As a new farmer I took away so many ideas on yard design and the psychology of creating a trusted relationship with my sheep for efficient and safe handling. Now for lots of practice in the paddocks.

I was delighted to put together this curated 10kg lamb box for a local family of 4.
I have limited 5kg and 10kg boxes available at $28.50 per kg over the next few weeks before I rest the paddocks and prepare for the new lambs.
If you are interested in the remaining few boxes please send me a message. Pick up in Wynyard or limited local delivery.

Due to your continued support and selling out of our organically grazed Heritage breed lamb at the last few markets I am bringing extra lamb this week. With a focus on roasts, diced, shanks, cutlets and sausages. Be sure to get in early before your favourite cuts sell out.

Sneak peak!
After a long hand crafted process by a local tanner I am thrilled to get back my first Hampshire Downs sheep skins.
Soft, bouncy and super snuggly these skins are from lambs which have their softest first fleece before shearing.
The hides were buffed by hand and feel like suede.

With a stronger micron than merino fleece they would create gorgeous decorative floor rugs and will be hard wearing for many years to come.

Antimicrobial, moisture wicking and fire retardant sheep skins are perfect for babies to rest on and as a medical device. I'm fairly sure they would be simply lovely to pop your toes on over a bare timber floor on a chilly winter morning. They come in delicious cream tones that will suit any decor.

These fleeces will be at the Wynyard Foreshore Market market this Sunday from 8am along with the final 2024 drop of Hampshire organically grazed lamb meat.
