Not often you see a butcher on the front page of the newspaper! 🥩📰
And this one is pretty bloody special.
At just 21 years old, Tamika Banks has been selected as one of only three Australian butchers to represent our country at the World Butchers Challenge in Las Vegas in 2027 — and she’s the only woman and the only butcher from the Northern Territory selected. 🇦🇺
It’s another huge achievement in what has already been an incredible few years for Tamika. From NT Apprentice Butcher of the Year, to becoming the first person from the NT to win the Australian Meat Industry Council National Apprentice Butcher of the Year, competing at the World Butcher Wars in Sydney, and now getting the opportunity to take on some of the best butchers in the world.
What makes it even more impressive is everything she’s balancing behind the scenes — continuing to work hard at her trade while supporting her mum through her battle with breast cancer.
From the Northern Territory to the world stage — and now apparently the front page as well! 😂👏
Congratulations Tamika. An awesome achievement and some well-deserved recognition for all the hard work you’ve put in.
Go show them what an NT butcher can do! 🔪🥩🇦🇺
