🐦 Cockatiel Care Guide: Professional Tips for a Happy, Healthy Bird 🦜

🏠 Cage Setup
🔹Size: Minimum 24x18x24 inches (length, width, height). ✅ Bigger cage = happier bird!
🔹Bars: Gaps should be 0.5-0.6 inches (so the bird cannot escape).

Inside the Cage:
🔹Use wooden sticks (different sizes) for the bird to stand on.
🔹Add toys (bells, ladders, mirrors).
🔹Keep food, water, and vegetables in separate bowls.
🔸Never put cage near kitchen smoke, strong sunlight, or cold air.

🍎 Food & Water
Daily Food:
🔹Pellets (60% of food). Buy special bird pellets from pet shops.
🔹Vegetables (30%): Carrots, spinach, broccoli (cut into small pieces).
🔹Fruits (10%): Apples, berries (remove seeds).
🔸Never Feed: Avocado, chocolate, coffee, alcohol, salty food.

Extra Needs:
🔹Give a cuttlebone (white bone-like thing) for calcium.
🔹Spray water lightly on the bird 1-2 times a week (they like it!).

💤 Daily Care
🔹Sleep: 10-12 hours of quiet darkness every night (cover the cage with a cloth).
🔹Clean: Wash food/water bowls daily. Clean the cage fully once a week.
🔹Playtime: Let the bird fly outside the cage for 2-3 hours daily (close windows first!).

❤️ Behavior & Bonding
🔹Talk/Sing: Spend time with your bird daily. They love attention!
🔹Stress Signs: If the bird pulls its feathers, screams a lot, or bites, it might be sad or sick.
🔹Training: Teach the bird to step onto your hand using treats (like seeds). Be patient!
🔹Male vs. Female: Males sing more. Females may lay eggs (even without a mate).

🥚 Eggs & Babies
🔹Age: Birds can lay eggs after 1.5-2 years.
🔹Eggs: 4-7 eggs at a time. Babies hatch after 18-21 days.

Warning: Too many eggs can make the mother bird weak. Let them lay eggs only 2-3 times a year.

🌈 Colors
Cockatiels come in many colors:
🔹Gray: Most common (gray body, yellow face, orange cheeks).
🔹Yellow/White: Called "Lutino" (red eyes).
🔹Albino: All white with red eyes (rare!).
🔹Speckled Wings: Called "Pearl".
🔹Mixed Colors: Called "Pied".
🔹Light Brown: Called "Cinnamon".
