Field Visit Insights | Tukiapara, Niamotpur, Naogaon

During our recent field visit, we observed a stark reality of water access that often goes unnoticed in rural communities.

• One shared community reservoir serves nearly 100 families
• Some households rely on private submersible pumps, creating unequal access
• Others walk ~0.5 km daily just to collect water
• Many households still depend on pond water for cooking and daily use
• Drinking water is often borrowed from nearby homes with tube wells

This is not just a “water availability” issue.
It is a **water reliability problem**.

Access exists—but it is:
– inconsistent
– unequal
– and often unsafe

At AquiVira, we are not building just another filter.
We are working towards a **reliable, household-level water system** that ensures safe water is consistently available—without dependence on distance, neighbors, or uncertainty.

These field insights directly shape how we design, test, and deploy our solutions.

Because solving water isn’t about technology alone.
It’s about understanding real usage, real behavior, and real constraints.

AquiVira at National Demo Day 2026 🇧🇩

Selected among the top 302 startups from over 1,091 applicants nationwide, AquiVira was part of the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority’s Startup & Scaleup Programme at National Demo Day 2026, held on April 7–9, 2026 at the Bangladesh Tourism Corporation Auditorium, Agargaon, Dhaka.

We pitched and showcased our water reliability system in the presence of key policymakers and global development leaders, including Fakir Mahbub Anam (Honourable Minister, ICT Division), Rehan Asif Asad (Advisor to the Hon’ble Prime Minister, ICT), Jean Pesme (World Bank), and Quazi Anowar Hossain (Secretary, ICT Division).

We also engaged with ecosystem leaders such as Nurul Huda (Startup Bangladesh), Rahat Ahmed (Anchorless Bangladesh), and Ayman Sadiq (10 Minute School), alongside other stakeholders shaping the startup landscape.

Additionally, our stall was visited by Mr. Mohammad Anwar Uddin (managing director, Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority) Monjur Mohammad Shahriar (Project Director, DEIED), Md. Siddiqur Rahman (Project Management Specialist, DEIED), and Syed Lutfar Rahman (Joint Secretary, Ministry of Planning), who shared encouraging feedback on our approach.

This milestone validates our direction—but ex*****on remains the priority. We are now focused on deployment, service reliability, and scaling access to safe water solutions.

BLUE বিজনেস আইডিয়া প্রতিযোগিতায় চ্যাম্পিয়ন রুয়েট টিম ‘AquiVira’

ঢাকায় অনুষ্ঠিত BLUE Business Idea Competition–এর পুরস্কার বিতরণী অনুষ্ঠানে পানি ও বর্জ্য ব্যবস্থাপনা–সংক্রান্ত উদ্ভাবনী উদ্যোগের জন্য রাজশাহী প্রকৌশল ও প্রযুক্তি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের (রুয়েট) টিম AquiVira সাফল্য অর্জন করেছে। দেশব্যাপী শতাধিক অংশগ্রহণকারীর মধ্য থেকে শীর্ষস্থান অর্জনের মাধ্যমে দলটি প্রি–সিড ফান্ডিং লাভ করে।

আয়োজক সূত্রে জানা যায়, স্থানীয় সমস্যা সমাধানে তরুণ উদ্ভাবকদের বাস্তবভিত্তিক উদ্যোগকে উৎসাহিত করতে আয়োজিত এ প্রতিযোগিতায় পানি ও বর্জ্য ব্যবস্থাপনা খাতকে কেন্দ্র করে মোট ৩১৫টি উদ্ভাবনী আইডিয়া জমা পড়ে। প্রাথমিক যাচাই–বাছাই শেষে ৬০টি দল আঞ্চলিক পিচিং রাউন্ডে অংশগ্রহণের সুযোগ পায়। সেখান থেকে নির্বাচিত শীর্ষ ১০টি দল তিন দিনব্যাপী নিবিড় বুটক্যাম্পে অংশ নেয়, যেখানে ব্যবসায়িক মডেলিং, বাজেটিং, ইমপ্যাক্ট পরিকল্পনা এবং বাস্তবায়ন প্রস্তুতি বিষয়ে প্রশিক্ষণ দেওয়া হয়।

চূড়ান্ত পর্বে শীর্ষ ৬টি দল প্রি–সিড ফান্ডিং ও ট্রফি অর্জন করে এবং আরও ৪টি দল সনদ ও নগদ পুরস্কার পায়। পাশাপাশি সকল ফাইনালিস্ট দল BLUE প্ল্যাটফর্মের আওতায় ধারাবাহিক মেন্টরশিপ সুবিধা পাবে বলে জানা যায়।

রুয়েট টিম AquiVira এর সদস্যরা হলেন সিরামিক অ্যান্ড মেটালার্জিকাল ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং (CME) বিভাগের ২০২১-২২ শিক্ষাবর্ষের শিক্ষার্থী আশরাফ ইসলাম আশফাক এবং একই শিক্ষাবর্ষের ইন্ডাস্ট্রিয়াল অ্যান্ড প্রোডাকশন ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং (IPE) বিভাগের শিক্ষার্থী মোবাসসারা জান্নাত। তাদের উদ্ভাবনী উদ্যোগটি পানি ও বর্জ্য ব্যবস্থাপনায় টেকসই, কার্যকর ও বাস্তবসম্মত সমাধান প্রদানের লক্ষ্যে প্রণীত।

পুরস্কার বিতরণী অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন এসএমই ফাউন্ডেশনের ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক আনোয়ার হোসেন। তিনি তরুণ উদ্ভাবকদের উদ্দেশ্যে কেবল পিচিংয়ে সীমাবদ্ধ না থেকে বাস্তব সমস্যার কার্যকর বাস্তবায়নের দিকে এগিয়ে যাওয়ার আহ্বান জানান। অনুষ্ঠানে আরও বক্তব্য দেন ওয়াটারএইড বাংলাদেশের টেকনিক্যাল সার্ভিসেস ডিরেক্টর ও কান্ট্রি ডিরেক্টর (ইনচার্জ) মো. তাহমিদুল ইসলাম। তিনি জানান, BLUE–এর মতো প্ল্যাটফর্ম উদ্ভাবনকে সিস্টেম, অর্থায়ন ও অংশীদারিত্বের সঙ্গে যুক্ত করে বাস্তবে রূপ দেওয়ার সেতুবন্ধন তৈরি করে। এছাড়াও সুইসকন্ট্যাক্ট বাংলাদেশের কান্ট্রি ডিরেক্টর হেলাল হোসেন উদ্ভাবনী উদ্যোগ বাস্তবায়নে স্পষ্ট নীতিমালা, কমপ্লায়েন্স ও ব্যবসায়িক প্রস্তুতির সুসংহত রূপরেখার প্রয়োজনীয়তার কথা তুলে ধরেন।

উল্লেখ্য, প্রতিযোগিতাটি ওয়াটারএইড ও সুইসকন্ট্যাক্টের যৌথ উদ্যোগে, Swiss-supported GO4IMPACT Project–এর আওতায় আয়োজন করা হয়। আয়োজকদের মতে, এ ধরনের উদ্যোগ তরুণ উদ্ভাবকদের স্থানীয় সমস্যা সমাধানে বাস্তবমুখী সমাধান তৈরিতে উৎসাহিত করার পাশাপাশি টেকসই উন্নয়নের লক্ষ্যে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অবদান রাখবে।

AquiVira participated in the capacity-building bootcamp of the water and waste business idea competition, implemented by WaterAid with support from the programme and Swisscontact. The three-day residential bootcamp focused on strengthening business models, operational planning, and local government engagement for sustainable water and waste solutions.

We are proud to share that AquiVira was recognized as 2nd Runners-up at the Greenovation Challenge 2025, held during the Environment Innovation Summit & Awards 2025, organized by Mission Green Bangladesh on 22 December 2025 at the Bangladesh Shishu Academy Auditorium, Dhaka.

The summit brought together several hundred young changemakers from across Bangladesh. From 100+ innovation ideas, 24 projects were shortlisted for showcase, and 3 projects received final awards—among which AquiVira was honored.

It was an honor to be part of a national platform attended by policymakers, environmental leaders, researchers, and development practitioners. The event was graced by Sharmeen Murshid, Honourable Adviser to the Ministry of Women & Children Affairs and the Ministry of Social Welfare (Interim Government), as the Chief Guest.

This recognition reinforces our commitment to developing eco-friendly, practical, and scalable water filtration solutions for communities across Bangladesh. Our next focus is translating this momentum into wider real-world deployment through strong partnerships.
