.antwerp is not your typical Belgian frituur, but a mix of Lebanese flavors and Belgian comfort food. The name Batata comes from the word “potato”, and the concept is a unique twist between Lebanese flavors and the classic Belgian frituur culture.
You won’t find classic bicky burgers here, but shoarma wraps, homemade falafel, kebbeh and Lebanese shoarma rolls with their own marinated spices. The wraps are made with fresh Lebanese bread, which you can really taste. We went for the shawarma beef wrap with seasoned beef, tahini, pickles, tomato, onion and parsley, and it was definitely my favorite.
They also serve some Belgian snacks like a classic Mexicano, Frikandel and bitterballen, but what really makes Batata special are their special sauces. Their Toum garlic sauce and famous pink mayonnaise are really something that defines them.
They are also halal and serve fries with the skin on. You can eat there on the terrace or simply order takeaway. Definitely a great spot if you want a different kind of experience. I highly recommend trying their wraps with the fresh Lebanese bread and homemade spices, you can really taste the difference.
