Who else hates store bought burger buns?
I made the most tasty homemade hamburger 🍔 (this video is dedicated to the burger buns 😋). For the full visual recipe of my hamburger patty, refer to my previous hamburger video 😉.
For the homemade burger buns:
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 tsp salt
- 3 cups of flour
- 2 tablespoons of instant yeast
- 1/3 cup of cooking oil
- 1 1/2 cup of warm water or milk (whichever you prefer)
- 1 large egg
- 2 tsp of sesame seeds
Ingredients for the patty:
- 1.5 pounds ground beef
- 1/4 iceberg lettuce
- 2 large tomatoes
- 8 slices of cheddar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper to taste
- 2 large white onions diced
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
For the sauce:
-1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
Instructions:
Make the bun:
- Preheat oven to 180 °C
-In a bowl, add warm water/milk, sugar, and yeast. Mix together and cover the mixture for 5 mins. It should become foamy at this point.
- Add in egg and salt. Mix together. Add flour and knead for 10 mins. you can either use a stand mixer or your hands.
- Cut into 6 cubs and form a bowl.
- Cover to rest for 15 - 20 mins
- Rub with egg wash and add sesame seeds
- Bake for 15 mins or until brown
Make the sauce:
- In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, sugar, pepper, and lemon juice together. Cover and refrigerate while you prepare the rest.
Make the burger patty:
• In a bowl, combine all burger patty ingredients.
Divide into 6-8 portions and form into a ball
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
⁃ Put each ball and use a burger masher or flat spoon to flatten out the patty
- Cook for 1-2 minutes, until cheese is melted and the patty is cooked through.
Assemble burger with sauce, desired toppings, and enjoy!
