The world is changing rapidly. Technology conquers space, borders disappear, and time itself accelerates. But the human being remains the same. We still search for a power that doesn’t come from a screen, the power that lives in nature, in the sky, in the fire, and in the breath of the Earth. We seek the voice of our ancestors, heard in the crackle of a fire, in the whisper of leaves, in the deep hum of a drum.

This power is not lost, it’s simply waiting for us to remember that humans have always been a part of nature, not its masters. And when we lose that connection, we lose our balance. Illness, anxiety, emptiness — these are not just symptoms of a fast-paced life, but the Earth’s call for us to pause, feel, and remember who we truly are.

Shamanic practices are not about magic, as many think. They are about returning to a natural state, the ability to hear the breath of the wind, understand the language of water, and feel the heartbeat of the ground beneath your feet. It’s an ancient ecology of the soul, restoring harmony between the inner and outer worlds.

Anyone can begin simply, by sitting quietly near a fire, listening to the river, walking barefoot on the soil, or taking a deep breath of fresh air. These small acts reconnect us with our true foundation — the place where real strength lives.

The owl as a totem guide

The main feature of the owl is the ability to see in the dark, which symbolizes clairvoyance, intuition and the ability to see beyond the veil of illusion. The owl helps the shaman to see ulterior motives, detect lies and find the truth in difficult situations. It gives insight and the ability to navigate in the darkest and most confusing aspects of the human soul.
It is believed that the owl has the ability to travel between worlds and send messages from spirits. It helps to establish contact with ancestors, receive wisdom from the past and see possible future options.

The large, intense eyes of the owl symbolize deep knowledge and wisdom accumulated over the centuries. The owl helps to decipher symbols, understand the hidden meaning of events and find answers to the most difficult questions. It gives you the ability to learn from mistakes and use your experience to help others. Helps to get rid of old beliefs and habits, let go of the past and open yourself to new experiences.

If you feel a connection to the owl, try meditating, studying its behavior and lifestyle. Observe the dreams in which it appears. Perhaps the owl has chosen you to be your totemic guide and help you reach your potential. Remember that true wisdom often comes from shadows.

Just as the shaman's power depends on the power of the Spirits who chose him, so the power of a drum depends on the power of the shaman who made it. A drum is not just an attribute, a helper and an ally. It is, in a way, a personification of Shamanic power in another form and embodiment. It cannot be said that a shaman without a drum can do nothing, nor vice versa. Shaman and the drum are a mutual complement and continuation of each other. As a sword in the hands of a warrior is an extension of his hand, so the drum is an extension of a shaman. Their mutual connection provides not only harmony and balance in shamanic practices, but represents the essence of Shamanism - the interaction between man and Nature.

What do you think in your life is as important an “extension” of yourself as a drum is for a shaman?

The practice of "Communicating with a plant"

1. When you find a plant that you want to interact with, think about why that plant chose you - what it did to attract your attention.
2. Stay with it, exploring its shapes, colors, smell, energy, etc. Do not rush to move on to the next step.
3. Close your eyes, relax, take a deep breath and mentally imagine how this plant appears in front of you. Feel it, feel its slow, measured rhythm of life, to talk to its Spirit.
4. Ask the plant to tell you about its special qualities. Remember all the images and thoughts that appear in front of you. Remember that the Spirit of a plant may not correspond to its physical manifestation. If you find it difficult to communicate, start this step all over again.
5. Thank the plant, inhale and exhale, and open your eyes.

Shamanic practice is not an escape from reality into a trance, but, on the contrary, a deep immersion into this reality, the sharpening of all channels of perception that go beyond the five standard senses. It is the practice of presence, attention, and respectful dialogue with all that exists, even if it is "existing" – a city park or your own apartment.
To learn something new is not to read about it in a book, but to feel it yourself. Try to slow down on a familiar street and feel its unique energy. Touch the wall of an old building and try to catch the echo of past times. To notice not just a bird on a branch, but this particular bird, with its moment of life, in its connection with this particular branch and this particular light.
The wisdom is to understand that the world is not silent. It constantly speaks to us in thousands of languages – languages of forms, energies, sensations, synchronicities. Our task is to become sensitive students again, open to this eternal, amazing conversation.

Was there a moment in your life when you felt it quite clearly — as if the world was "talking" to you personally through some event, sign, or feeling?

In Altai tradition, each person is a unity of several different spiritual entities, or souls. There are five of them. The origins of each of these five souls are in one of the four worlds - the World of Eternity, the Upper World, the Middle World or the Lower World. They can be visualized as follows:

Aiy soul is created by the great Tengri himself and belongs to the World of Eternity.

Bos is begotten by Ulgen and comes from the Upper World. It can be reborn after the death of a person and live on earth again.

Tuss is created by Erlik and comes from the Lower World. It is reborn after the death of a person in his lineage.

Koet is from Umai and belongs to the Middle World - the Earth. Therefore, it is not reborn, but passes to the descendants, forming a stream of ancestral power.

In addition to these four souls, a person has one more. It is also called the shamanic soul Sur. Sur can be given to a person by one of the deities or someone from the spirits of one of the worlds. After death, Sur is not reborn, but becomes a nature spirit - a shaman's helper.

It is possible to become a shaman at will by learning. But the stronger shaman is the one chosen by the spirits.

At the very beginning, a shaman finds his totem animal. They do all the shamanic work together. And then, depending on the work, the shaman can connect with the power of any animal he wants.

When a shaman has done his work well, an average person doesn't even realize it.
All shamanic work takes place in the worlds where a shaman travels. And here life gets better: the ice sings, the trees blossom, and people suddenly feel happy for no reason.

To do such work, a shaman unites in one moment himself, the animal and the teacher from the upper world. Without such an agreement, shamanic amateurism is obtained. The spirits “fire” such shamans for incompetence.
