🍇 In between Primeur Weeks, we can’t forget to put our newest winery in the spotlight. We recently started working with Domaine de La Noblaie in Chinon and their wonderfully pure and expressive wines have already completely charmed us.

At a time when the Loire Valley feels more exciting than ever, captures everything we love about the region today: organic farming, beautiful freshness, limestone tension and Cabernet Franc with real energy and drinkability. Honest, vibrant wines with soul and a strong sense of place.

Wat als je Gent nu eens kon proeven? Dat kan! 🍷

William Thienpont, trotse Gentenaar en 6e generatie wijnhandelaar, neemt je mee op een unieke wijnwandeling door de Gentse binnenstad.

Een tocht langs bijzondere plekken, verhalen en uitzonderlijke wijnen, telkens gekoppeld aan een historische figuur of plek uit de Gentse geschiedenis. Van Filips de Stoute tot Karel V, Gent zag er nog nooit zo smaakvol uit.

Deze wandeling is ten voordele van en de opbrengst dit jaar gaat naar het Fonds dat kansarme jongeren een opleiding in de gastronomie geeft.

Celebrating with after her Mac my Day charity auction to find a cure for Duchenne’s disease and give hope to her son Mac and lots of others like him. Thanks to generous producers in St Emilion and Pomerol whose Right Bank super lot raised £50,000 for the cause.

Winery of the Week

We are delighted to announce a wonderful new addition to our portfolio, from the Loire.

Created in 1960, the third generation, brother and sister Séverin and Milène, have recently taken over the estate. Located in Pouilly-sur-Loire, the domain covers 12 and a half hectares. Séverin looks after the vineyard and the winemaking while Milène, handles the commercial and business side. Together, they combine tradition and modernity to showcase their expertise and offer authentic, organic and biodynamic wines which reflect their wine philosophy: generous, sincere and deeply rooted in their land.The estate lies on a classic mix of limestone, clay and flint soils, typical of the appellation, which gives both structure and definition to the wines. Work in the vineyard is careful and measured, with an emphasis on maintaining balance and allowing each parcel to express itself clearly. Vinification is equally restrained, with stainless steel used to preserve freshness and precision.

Jacques & Fiona tasted this when they visited the château during the En Primeur tastings and were impressed by its drinkability and its attractive balance and fruit.

This is a very beautiful Phélan Ségur, made from a classic blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, with it’s dark colour; intense with lovely black fruit, plums and spice; lush and fresh with lovely grapiness and a mineral spiciness. Less interventionist in their winemaking than they have ever been, there is an elegant reverberation and fruity, pure energy in the finish. Owner Philippe Van de Vyvere sums up the wine as follows; “2021 is the style of wine that drives my passion for Phélan Ségur: purity, precision, density, ripeness, quality of tannins and, finally, distinction. A Phélan Ségur of today and tomorrow... timeless.”

🍇 Wijnwandeling voor 🍇

William Thienpont neemt je met glas in hand mee op een historische wandeling door de Gentse Binnenstad.

Een anderhalf uur lang word je ondergedompeld in verhalen en wijn langs de mooiste plekken van het iconische stadscentrum van Gent.

Onderweg proef je vier wijnen, elk gekoppeld aan een historische figuur of plek uit de Gentse geschiedenis. Van Filips de Stoute tot Karel V — elke wijn heeft zijn eigen verhaal!

De tocht is ongeveer 4 km lang en rustig van tempo. Geschikt voor iedereen.

De opbrengst gaat volledig naar het Gault&Millau Fonds dat kansarme jongeren een opleiding in de gastronomie geeft.

De ideale kans om van Gent te genieten én iets zinvols te doen.
