A proud moment for our guacsquad🥑
Last Friday, during the Belgian TV programme WinWin on VRT, a blind consumer test compared several guacamoles side by side, together with Beeckman .

The outcome was clear and rewarding:

Myth of the month: avocados consume a lot of water.

Heard avocados waste water? It’s time to bust that myth!

Compared to other popular foods like beef, chocolate, and coffee, avocados actually require up to 10 times less water per kilo. In regions with plenty of rainfall, avocados often need little to no extra irrigation. And even in drier areas, farmers are getting smarter with water use.

Over the past decade, innovative farming technologies, like tools that track soil moisture and sap flow, have helped cut irrigation needs by up to 50%.

So next time someone brings up avocado water use, you’ll have the facts on hand!
