πŸ₯ The First 24 Hours Can Make or Break Your Chicks!

The first day after arrival is the most critical period in a chick's life. Proper brooding during these first 24 hours lays the foundation for healthy growth, better feed conversion, and lower mortality over the next 5 weeks.

βœ… 1. Water Comes First
As soon as the chicks arrive, provide clean, fresh water. Adding 5–10 g of glucose per litre helps restore energy lost during transport.

βœ… 2. Feed After Hydration
Allow chicks to drink first, then introduce feed about 2 hours later. Well-hydrated chicks eat more readily and start growing faster.

βœ… 3. Get the Temperature Right
Maintain the brooder at 32–35Β°C.
β€’ Too cold? Chicks huddle and refuse feed.
β€’ Too hot? They pant, spread out, and become weak.

βœ… 4. Help Them Settle
Guide chicks to both water and feed. Gently dipping a few beaks into the water helps the rest learn quickly.

βœ… 5. Observe Their Behaviour
Healthy chicks are active, walking, pecking, and exploring. Weak or inactive chicks need immediate attention.

βœ… 6. Keep It Clean & Avoid Overcrowding
Remove wet litter promptly, provide enough space, and ensure good ventilation to reduce stress and disease.

πŸ’‘ Remember: A strong first day means healthier birds, faster growth, better weights, and fewer losses. Invest extra care in those first 24 hoursβ€”it pays off throughout the entire production cycle.
