MIKASA | A strategic genetic investment.

Great breeding programmes are not built in isolation.

At Marsha Farms , we value strategic partnerships, genetic exchange & the collective pursuit of breeding excellence.

Bred by Mr. Molebatsi of Trendy FARMS, joined the Redchip Farms & Marsha Farms breeding programme in March this year through a mutually beneficial exchange.

By offering some of our elite breeding ewes in exchange for , we were able to strengthen our genetic base while creating an opportunity for both breeders to benefit from each other's genetics.

We believe this is what meaningful collaboration in livestock breeding should look like — sharing genetics, creating value and building towards a stronger future.

We are excited about what brings to our programme and believe his influence will be felt well beyond his own progeny.

A LESSON FROM OUR EARLY DAYS

During our early days in boergoat breeding, we bought a 10-month-old buck for P20,000 (approximately USD1400) at a local auction.

Not long after acquiring him, we encountered a problem involving one of his testicles. We were still wet behind the ears at the time and didn't have the experience nor the knowledge to establish exactly what was happening.

Unfortunately, we never got a definitive diagnosis. Looking back today, we often wonder;

Could it have been epididymo-orchitis?
Could it have been brucellosis?
Could it have been an abscess?
Or perhaps trauma from a kick, fighting or mounting?

It is experiences like this that remind us that breeding livestock is a continuous learning process.

You don't become an experienced breeder overnight. Sometimes the hardest lessons are the ones you remember the longest.
