Dumelang, botsadi!
All of last week, we took part in the Consumer Fair in Gaboron, and it was a great success! 🎉

We sold over 100 items on behalf of our communities in Tonota, Letlhakeng, Masunga, and Chobe.

Besides community development, our volunteer work covers a variety of fields. Some of us work on environmental education, so we held a workshop on recycling products.

On top of that, we shared aspects of Japanese traditional culture such as Kimono dressing, calligraphy (Shuji), and the tea ceremony (Sado).

We were delighted to welcome so many visitors who enjoyed our stalls.
We’ll keep moving forward to open new doors! ✨

ドゥメラ！（ツワナ語で「こんにちは」）
先週、首都ハボロネで開催された「コンシューマーフェア」に出展いたしました！✨

活動地域であるトノタ、レタケン、マスンガ、チョベからの商品を展示・販売し、100点を超える商品をお買い上げいただきました。

また、コミュニティ開発に加え、環境教育の隊員によるリサイクルワークショップも開催し、多くの方にご参加いただきました。今回は、普段は捨てられてしまうペットボトルのキャップやお菓子のパッケージ、レテイシという伝統布の端材を使って可愛らしいキャップのキーホルダーを作りました。

さらに、お隣の在ボツワナ日本大使館のブースでは、隊員が着物の着付けや習字、茶道、折り紙を紹介し、日本文化を楽しんでいただきました。

私たちの活動を通して、ボツワナの皆さまに新しい発見やつながりが広がることを願っています！🌍✨

前回の投稿でもお知らせしました通り、JICA海外協力隊・ボツワナのコミュニティ開発隊員で首都ハボロネのコンシューマフェアという展示会に出展します！

僕の任地であるカサネ（チョベ）は、ボツワナ北東端にあるサファリで有名な町で、BIG５であるゾウやライオン、バッファロー、ヒョウなど多くの動物やチョベ川の景色を楽しみに多くの観光客が訪れます。

今回はそんな自然豊かなカサネから、
🌿 パームツリーで編まれたバスケット
♻ リサイクルペーパーで作られたブレスレットやピアス
などの素敵な商品をお持ちします！

Like the other members, I’d like to introduce some local products from Masunga today. For the Consumer Fair, I’ve collaborated with a tailor based here in Masunga to create unique items made from Leteisi fabric.

Here’s the product list:

You can see and purchase these products at the Consumer Fair. Quantities are limited, so please make sure to visit the JICA booth early if you don’t want to miss out.

今月末にあるコンシューマーフェアにはレタケンからもいくつかの商品が展示されます！

This month, we will be showcasing and selling local products from different villages at the Botswana Consumer Fair in Gaborone!

Products from Tonota are here!!

First, we have handmade leteisi scrunchies (for tieing hair)! These are very popular and make perfect souvenirs. Mini zipper pouches made with leteisi fabric are great for carrying small items like coins or tables.
If you are Leteisi lover, don’t miss our leteisi hats and brooches!!

We’ve added new items that weren’t available last year, Leather keychains and Crocheted keyholders. Only 10 pieces of each will be available, so be sure to grab one while supplies last!

8月にハボロネで開かれるボツワナコンシューマーフェアで販売するトノタ村のローカル商品を紹介します。

まずは、人気のレテイシ(伝統布)シュシュです。この商品はお土産にぴったりで非常によく売れています。同様にレテイシで作られたポーチは、コインやリップなどの小物を入れるのにぴったりです。そのほか、レテイシハットやレテイシブローチなども販売します。

そして、去年にはなかったラインナップとして、レザーのキーチェーンや鍵編みのキーホルダーを用意しました。こちらは10点ずつの販売予定なので、欲しい人はお早めに！

I had the pleasure of attending the Market Day in Borolong Village, organized by the Tonota District Council. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with local business owners. I was truly inspired by their passion and strong motivation behind their work!

A heartfelt thank you to the community for the warm welcome!

I'm Masahiro Oyagi, and people call me Masa here in Botswana.
"Masa" means "Dawn" in Setswana, a local language.
I'm based in Kasane, in Chobe District at the northern tip of Botswana.
Chobe is well known for its national parks, rich in wildlife.
I'm always impressed by the natural beauty, especially stunning landscape along Chobe River.
I work with the Home Economics Division under the Chobe District Council, and support the marketing and promotion of local products.

Hope you'll enjoy our journey in Botswana together.

ボツワナではマサと呼ばれています。マサは、現地語のツワナ語で「夜明け」という意味です。
私はボツワナはサファリで有名なカサネ（チョベ）というと町で活動しています。自然が豊かで美しいのでアフリカの自然を感じたい方に特におすすめのところです。
ここでは現地のチョベ県庁の家政課に所属し、地元商品のマーケティング支援をしています。

日本からは地球の真裏にあるボツワナですが、人々は温厚で優しく自然も美しいところです。より多くの方々にボツワナやカサネを知っていただき、興味を持っていただけるきっかけになれば嬉しいです！！

I'm Yuya Kanno. My friends call me "Kan-Chan." But here, I'm called "Tlotlo," which means "Respect" in Setswana. Actually, I can't pronounce my Setswana name properly yet, so I'm still working on it💦
I'm based in Masunga and work as a community development officer at the North East District Council.
Together with the people of Botswana, I would like to promote local products and places.
Hope you get interested in Masunga and Botswana through our page!

現地語で「尊敬」を意味しますが、正しく発音できなくていつも名前を勘違いされます💦
マスンガという首都ハボロネから8時間ぐらいの所に位置する村の県庁で活動しています。
ボツワナの方々と一緒にローカル商品やローカルな場所を紹介していきたいです。

My name is Taisei Takashima, and my Setswana name is Tumelo.
I’m working in the Mogoditshane・Thamaga district, which is located just west of the capital.
My main activity is teaching numeracy to kindergarten children,
but I’m also involved in promoting and expanding the market for local products through initiatives like the One Village, One Product movement.
Looking forward to sharing our stories in Botswana with you!
