We are deeply saddened by the tragedy that occurred today in Tumbler Ridge. Our hearts are with the victims, their families, the students and staff impacted, and the entire community as they face an incredibly painful and difficult moment.

In times like this, communities feel shaken — especially when youth, schools, and families are involved. Please check in on one another. Hold your loved ones close. Seek support if you need it. No one should have to navigate grief or shock alone.

We commend the RCMP members and all first responders who responded with courage and professionalism under unimaginable circumstances. Additional resources have been deployed to help ensure those affected have access to the care and support they need.

Tumbler Ridge is a strong community. In the days ahead, compassion, patience, and unity will matter more than ever.
