Come and visit our small family run maple sugar camp located on Clayton Road this Saturday. Watch maple syrup being made, walk our trail through the sugar bush, experience spring in Lanark County and sample some fresh maple products. We will have maple syrup,
maple sugar, maple butter and taffy on snow served beside the campfire. If you’re lucky you may even spot one of our regular wildlife visitors including deer, turkeys, geese, ducks and raccoons. Thompson’s Sweet Retreat welcomes you from 10-3 on Saturday only.

It has been a busy start to the 2026 season! I apologize for the delay in posting an update but it has been hard to find free time. All of our trees are now tapped and we had a good flow of sap before this freeze up. I have boiled a couple of times and now have fresh maple syrup bottled in both amber and dark grades. It looks like it will warm up late tonight and the sap should start flowing tomorrow before another freeze up tomorrow night. The weather forecast looks favourable later this week and hopefully there will be a couple of good days of boiling. We are now back at the Ottawa Farmers’ Market at Lansdowne every Sunday from 10-3. Drop by our booth or visit our sugar camp at 1922 Clayton Road Almonte On.
