Today marked the end of an era. The last big load of highlands on the trailer and off to three new homes.

Some special animals on board. Oreo our fold matriarch with us from the start 11 years ago. Christie the first highland born on our farm. Miracle, the last calf from one of our originals (a full sister to Oreo) born last summer under impossible conditions yet thriving. To name a few of the many.

We are grateful knowing what fantastic homes these, and those picked up over the last few weeks, are all going to. Highland people are the BEST. Who else would bring flowers and a hand written card and offer a hug when picking up cattle knowing it would be a hard day? Charla there are no words sufficient to thank you šŸ™ for your kindness šŸ’.

We do still have a few highlands on the farm. One bull sold but still waiting for pickup. A few registered animals still for sale. And to our beef customers, we did keep back several years of steers so we will continue to have beef available at the Farmers Market.

Thank you to everyone who has provided an amazing home to our highlands. We are excited for you!

Only 5 animals left. Narcissa of Norland Brae is registered and will be ready to go after weaning in November. Her name means ā€˜daffodil’ and she is a gorgeous light yellow with a white ring around her nose. Narcissa is naturally friendly and, with a bit of time, would learn to love brushing or scratches. She is 1 of 2 heifers born spring 2025 still available as part of our fold dispersal.

We had the privilege of participating in the 61st Annual General Meeting of The Canadian Highland Cattle Society this past weekend. It was a spectacular event all around with beautiful weather, great attendance, and a chance to see, and talk about, quality highland cattle. Thank you to the many folks who made all of this possible.

As we disperse our fold (one more registered bull is off to his new home in BC today!), we will miss the people who own and breed highlands as much as the cattle themselves.

Last call for our fresh fruit and vegetables at the Athabasca Farmers' Market this Saturday, September 20th!

While there are two Riverfront Markets left, we will be at the The Canadian Highland Cattle Society AGM on September 27 so this will be our last 2025 outdoor market.

We have lots of fresh veggies to share—beans (SO many), tomatoes, cucumbers and so much more. Please help us empty our tables one more time and ensure all this beautiful, local produce goes to good use.

We are now in the ā€œberā€ months and it felt like it this morning! Despite the feel of fall in the air, we will have a great selection of fresh fruit and vegetables this Saturday at the Athabasca Farmers' Market.

If you’re looking for a taste of summer, the cherry tomatoes are amazing this week, sweeter than our strawberries. The beans, both yellow and green, have had a comeback.

If you’re feeling autumn vibes we have acorn squash and on-the-stalk brussel sprouts.

Support local and meet us at the Market 10am-2pm.
