⚠️The Extended Zone is the outermost ring of the Home Ignition Zone and typically spans 30 to 100 feet (10 to 30 metres), or more from your home. This area acts as a buffer designed to slow approaching wildfire and lower the intensity of the flames. Wildfires don’t usually ignite homes solely from wall-of-flame contact; they spread via radiant heat and wind-blown embers. So, a well maintained Extended Zone is critical to disrupting this progression✅

Campfires are permitted when the daily Fire Weather Index is Low (blue), Moderate (green), or High (yellow).

Campfires are banned when the Fire Weather Index is Very High (orange) or Extreme (red).

If you are having a campfire, follow these important safety rules:
🔥 Check the daily Forest Fire Hazard Rating before lighting any fire
🍃Avoid having campfires on windy days
🌲 Choose an open, clear area away from trees, brush, dry grass, and buildings
🏕️ Keep campfires on bare soil, gravel, sand, or contained in a screened fire pit
🔥➡️ Keep the campfire small and controllable
Keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby at all times
👀 Never leave a fire unattended
💧Fully extinguish the fire before leaving it – soak it, stir the embers, and soak again
