Love is in the air at Breezy Brook Farm... Our ND buck Hades has kicked off breeding season with Hazel and Persephone. These two ladies will be due early March. For 2027 we will have purebred Nigerian Dwarfs as well as Mini Nubians - they will be 75% ND 25% Nubian. Really looking forward to seeing those kids hit the ground 💞

Two of our BYM hens decided it's never too late to go broody. This little lady and her Polish x ameracauna cross friend decided to lay their nests together.... we now have unplanned chicks! Anyone looking for adorable fall chicks? Some are bantam (ish) and some will be more standard size chickens. Great deal if you take them all 5 available 💞🐥🐣🐥🐣🐥

Our farm is ever changing... I had mentioned changes for 2027 but not what it was... this is not it 🤣🤣 sometimes things cross our path and make sense... these ladies were just that. Meet Selene and Gemma 2yr old mini nubians does. They will be part of our breeding program and used for milking next year. Looking forward to seeing the colours they throw 😍

Remember Noir? Our unique little triplet that was born with some challenges? He spent his entire life showered with love by our daughter and her siblings. He never really grew but what he lacked in size her had in personality and heart. Noir aka Pickles was a character that melted our hearts. We knew his life time line was unknown but we would never be ready to say good bye... least of all right after another major loss. Noir passed away peacefully this past week in the arm of the kiddo who loved him most and unconditionally. He is now free from any pain he may have had and waits on the Rainbow Bridge... until we meet again best little guy. We love you 💞 🐐

With farming comes life and the opposite. With modern medicine and intervention lives are saved. While Maybelle is alive and well her calf sadly didn't make it. This is our second rough calving of the year that required help from our amazing Vets. So very thankful to have a local vet clinic and that they have emergency hours. This year has been an eye opener with cattle. A year to make you step back and change things up before diving back in. Neither of these births were caused by anything we did wrong. It was sheer bad luck, but bad luck is expensive and heart breaking. A person cant help but question things when there's more than one tough day. We love our animals and want only the best for them while they are here. There will be new avenues taken for 2027 and cant wait to share that journey once it happens 👀.

This year I finally got together a small flock of double laced barnevelders. We had a gold laced hen but lacked a rooster or other hens... so we acquired this stunning rooster and purchased 6 chicks - 2 ended up being these lovely pullets. They will lay medium brown eggs next year, with hatching eggs and chicks available in 2027.

Some of our silkie flock - one white pullet missing. This flock was a bit of a giggle as I've never been on team Silkie... but our good friends at Bayview Acres Homestead have beautiful silkies and I couldn't resist the colors... as we've raised 3 from chicks (then added 3 more pullets this summer) our son took a strong interest in them and has claimed them 🤣😅 The partridge pulley "Puff" is the matriarch of the flock and is very social lol
