Part of our start-up native tree and shrub nursery. Everything is temporary until we can move into the new house, but we wanted to get a jump on things this year. American chestnut, shagbark hickory, sugar maple, eastern redbud, northern catalpa, black tupelo, tulip tree and false indigo are all started. A bunch of other species are finishing up their cold stratification and will be planted out this week. We’ll plant many of these trees on the property but might also sell some potted stock if we grow enough.

We haven’t downloaded our trail cams for a while. Spotted this “bachelor group” of male

After greasing the loader I went on a hunt for two zerks on the tractor that I hadn’t been able (or taken the time) to find…Bingo!

The moved 9 tons of gravel this weekend. The loader got some TLC when we were done.

Well we built about 200 feet of gravel trail today. Should give us all-season access to areas that would otherwise turn to quicksand

Thanks for commenting on our last post. Nobody guessed the purpose of our contraption, so I present to you…the Trailmaster 1000. We have a lot of areas on the farm that stay really wet in the late winter and spring. I want to build two-track gravel trails but don’t want to gravel the whole road. So this jig made from leftover wood scraps will allow us to dump and spread gravel for the tractor and truck tires to run on, while saving on gravel costs….theoretically. Beta testing to begin shortly. Patents and worldwide distribution to follow.

Haven’t posted in a while. We’ve been laser focused 🙄 on the house build. Electrical planning is all-consuming and just a little soul-sucking, but I think we finally got it figured. More good news: our siding started going up! Pics of that coming soon. In the meantime, I had a chance over the weekend to do a little bit of mad-sciencing. A bottle of Oakstream Farm’s finest maple syrup to whoever can guess what this contraption is for (but the winner has to come pick it up).
