Thanks again for a wonderful Market season. I’m already looking forward to next year and scaling-up my menus…

I’ll be offering freshly made soups/stews/chilis, and occasional hearty salads throughout the fall and winter seasons. Advanced orders only please.

Hot, ready-to-eat with optional toppings (cheese, croutons, nut/seeds, fresh herbs):

OR

Fresh, served refrigerated to reheat within 3 days or freeze right in the jar:
$15 (1 litre Mason jar)

All available for 2 days only or until they sell out. All are gluten-free and lactose-free unless otherwise stated. Soups are available from noon of each day for pickup or delivery ($3 in Bobcaygeon).

Hi everyone,

BRACE YOURSELVES...THIS IS A LONG ONE

My mother used to say: 'Waste not, want not'. This phrase has guided my entire philosphosy and methodology for my food (that, and my partner is a Dutchman 😉).

My soups have been overwhelmingly popular this market season, and I plan to make in-season or Ontario hothouse sourced soups year round. More details to come.

Increasingly, I'm making my own fresh, clear stocks and broths to use fresh or freeze to use later. I source my produce locally, always Ontario ( 🇨🇦 STRONG), with simple ingredients and a very 'clean label'. This is the raw material for my veggie based soups for this Saturday market. I'm also making ham broth, which inevitably means a ham-based soup for Saturday. A lovely starter if you're having turkey. If anyone is interested in fresh veggie or ham stocks for this Thanksgiving, to add to soup or an array of side dishes, text Jayne at 705 991 2991. Litre stocks will be available at the market, but in limited quantities.
I'll also have a selection of hearty, deli salads that will keep well over Thanksgiving.

I've been making home-grown habanero hot sauce for years (for my friends). Don't turn away! This is an approachable 2/5 habanero hot sauce, made with lots of carrot, so that the true flavour of habanero can be tasted: citrus. It's an explosion of fruit, with very little lime added (more to acidify for safety). It is now available for tasting and for sale in 5 oz woozy bottles. Keeps refrigerated for 12 months.

Many of my ferment-loving customers dipped up my jalapeno hot sauce earlier this season. I have a new, 4 week-fermented batch in 5 oz woozy bottles available on Saturday.
Of course, I still offer several types of fresh and well-fermented kimchis (until Ontario Napa and Ontario Asian pears are done in Nov), and the last batch of fermented tomato and tomatillo salsas.
For the spicier, pickled palate, the last of my jalapenos were just pickled for medium heat, or very spicy/sweet with pineapple for Cowgirl Candy.
