LET’S TALK ABOUT EXTRAS (long post, sorry)
Hey everybody, we’re making a change to our menu to address something that has been an issue for awhile and we’ve struggled to find the right solution.
About a year ago, we added the option to add EXTRA toppings to our food. Want a bit more Buffalo sauce? Select extra and we will give you a bit extra. Want extra pickles? No problem.
The issue is… WHAT IS EXTRA? We’ve learned that some folks think extra cheese curds means a few extra curds and some folks think it means the entire container will be filled with cheese.
Unfortunately, this costs us every time there is some miscommunication of what EXTRA means — we’ve had people report to Skip we didn’t put the extra sauce on for 50 cents and now we’re stuck with refunding a $20 order over 50 cents worth of sauce.
Needless to say, that really adds up and it can be frustrating — when all we really want to do is give our customers a choice to add more if they want it.
We are in no way hitting back at anybody who claimed that EXTRA wasn’t enough for them — not at all! We understand that EXTRA can be open to interpretation as we’ve struggled with it from the beginning.
So, going forward — we are removing the word EXTRA from our menu and replacing it with an option to DOUBLE your toppings.
Due to the high quality of our ingredients — this will come at an increased cost for those who want more than what we offer for toppings. We do feel our standard toppings are more than enough for the majority of our customers, but we know some folks really love our toppings and we need to give this option for those folks.
We’re in the process of updating our menus online and via Skip to now allow you to DOUBLE your sauces, DOUBLE your bacon, DOUBLE your meats etc… and this way there is no misinterpretation — as we will literally be DOUBLING the order for the selected items.
Literally drooling over a Baconator with DOUBLE bacon or a Dill Pickle Fry with DOUBLE sauce & DOUBLE pickles as I type this 🤤
The prices will be reflective of the costs of our ingredients, but we assure you that if you’re looking for EXTRA toppings — selecting DOUBLE should more than satisfy your craving 🙂
Sorry for the long rambling post, but we really do value the feedback of our customers and we adjust when needed to ensure we are always giving our customers what they want.

It's Chef Nik's last day at Spool today 😢
For the last 2 years, Nik has held down Spool. I remember when I first hired him, he was so eager to work for us. He came in telling me how he had heard from everyone that our food was great and he wanted to be part of it.
We later found out that he'd never heard of us before 😂
I have never met somebody who works as hard as Nik, who treats the business like his own and genuinely cares what he is sending out to our customers.
Nik IS Spool.
While we know this industry sees a lot of staff changes, we got really lucky with Nik. He always showed up and gave us his best, we never had to worry if we were covered.
We're really going to miss him and we're better for having had him lead the way the last couple of years.
Nik, I have heard you talk about so many of your goals and dreams these last couple of years. My hope is that you continue chasing and striving to reach them.
We'll miss you here, but we hope you come visit every time you make your way back to Brantford. The door is always open for you.

Since Christmas last year we have been keeping something from you.
We have been shouldering a political sh*tstorm... the proverbial parents protecting the kids from the monsters under the bed.
That ends now. Tomorrow morning we will have concrete barricades placed in front of our business by the County of Brant. Lawyers, Traffic Engineers and ourselves have done everything in our power to save the solvency and safety of our business. We are out of options and need your support.
We have been told "our business doesn't warrant more than one driveway". Upon our protest of "Have you seen this place on a Sunday?", we have been asked, in sarcasm, "Who do you think you are? Walmart?"
Yes, yes we do. And so much more.
For years our team has done cartwheels, jumping Jacks and dove in front of pucks to show the world that Food comes from farms and begun to win a hard fought battle to be considered a real life Grocery Store.
Can you name one Grocery Store that has a single lane for an entrance? We don't believe there is one and thus, the Governent is here to tell us - "get back in your lane and be a cute country market".
Tractor Trailer deliveries will be nearly impossible. Pedestrian safety will be compromised. Congestion will increase, causing bad decisions.
Please stay tuned for ways to help. This will affect the safety of our customers and the solvency of our business.
Hostile, unwelcomed construction work was active in front of our business all day today and our business is already down at least 17% from expectations on Day 1.
