✨Did you know?!✨ Arak turns into "Lion's Milk" when mixed with water due to a chemical reaction caused by the anise oil in the spirit. Anise oil is soluble in alcohol but not in water. When you add water to Arak, the alcohol content decreases, causing the anise oil to separate and form tiny droplets. This oil dispersion creates a milky-white, opaque appearance, known as the "ouzo effect" or "louche." This transformation is the origin of the nickname "Lion's Milk," reflecting both its creamy look and the strength of the drink.
