🎙️ Fresh-Milled Buns Reel Voiceover

“Today we’re making fresh-milled buns, and let me tell you…there’s nothing quite like homemade bread! 🍞

I started with a combination of hard red and hard white wheat berries, which I milled fresh right before making the dough.

Once the flour was milled, it was time to mix, knead, and let that beautiful dough come together.

Then we rolled the dough into buns and let them rise before baking them until they were golden and delicious.

And just look at that inside! Soft, fluffy and made with freshly milled whole grains.

Of course, the most important part…taste testing! 😋

And yes…this bun was every bit as yummy as it looks!

There’s just something special about milling your own wheat and turning those little berries into fresh, homemade bread. ❤️

Fresh-milled, homemade and made with love.”

We’re making them to enjoy with rice bowls, smokies, burgers, sandwiches, tacos and more. They’re such an easy way to add a little extra flavour and crunch to just about anything!

One jar probably won’t last long around here! 😂🧅💕

🥒 Bread & Butter Pickles — two ways! 🌶️

We started with 15 lbs of beautiful pickling cucumbers from Souto Farms in Airdrie and ended up with 29 pint jars of sweet, tangy, crunchy goodness!

We made both classic and spicy versions—the spicy jars got a little extra kick with a red hot chili pepper. 🌶️

Nothing better than filling the pantry with homemade pickles! 💛

Which would you choose: Classic or Spicy? 🥒🌶️

As a group of sisters, we like to try new things….

Like Concord Grape Jelly….

Wowzers!

We sourced the grapes at a Salmon Arm Market Pedros - Salmon Arm, BC , juiced them down, jammed them, and made these beauties!

Did you know when using new cheesecloth to strain you need to sanitize first?

PS… the funnel was cleaned before next use

🌱 Supporting local, one farmstand at a time! 🌱

While exploring Alberta, we discovered the cutest little farmstand in Wimborne — Nordic Roots Homestead! 🥰

There’s just something special about stopping at a small local farmstand and knowing you’re supporting the hard work, passion, and dreams of a local family. ❤️

We absolutely loved seeing all the goodness they had to offer, and of course, we couldn’t leave empty-handed! 😉 We’re always looking for locally grown and homemade goodies to bring into our kitchen and preserve for later.

If you’re ever in the Wimborne area, be sure to check out Nordic Roots Homestead and support this wonderful small business! 🌾🧺

Shop local. Support local. Keep Alberta’s small businesses growing! 🇨🇦❤️

Checking out a farm market in the Shuswap area.

08/18/2026

Our North Okanagan & Shuswap adventure wasn't just about taking in the beautiful scenery...we also came home with a pretty amazing haul.

We stopped at farm stands and markets along the way and brought home all kinds of fresh, local goodness that we're going to turn into something delicious for our pantry.

Now the reel fun begins...processing, canning, dehydrating and preserving.

Follow along as we turn this beautiful haul into food we can enjoy long after summer is over!
