Not all honey is created the same.

Raw honey is gently strained to remove larger pieces of wax while keeping its naturally occurring enzymes, pollen, and rich flavour intact.

Many commercially processed honeys are heated and finely filtered, creating a smoother appearance but changing some of the characteristics that make raw honey unique.

At Bee Boyse Honey, we believe nature already knows how to make great honey.

Simple. Pure. Local.

The Flowers Keeping Our Bees Busy This Month

August is full of late-season blooms that help feed our hardworking bees.

Some favourites include:

🌼 Goldenrod
🌻 Sunflowers
🌸 Asters
☘️ Clover
🌿 Native wildflowers

These flowers provide valuable nectar and pollen as the season begins to slow down, helping colonies prepare for the months ahead.

Every bloom makes a difference.

Have you spotted any of these flowers lately?

While summer may be winding down, our bees are still hard at work.

August is an important month in the apiary. We're carefully checking hive health, monitoring food stores, and making sure every colony remains strong before the cooler months begin.

Healthy bees today mean healthy hives tomorrow.

There's always something happening behind the scenes, and we're grateful to care for these incredible little workers every step of the way.

💛 Thank you for supporting local beekeeping.

Have you ever noticed that one jar of honey can taste slightly different from the next?

That's one of the wonderful things about raw local honey! As the seasons change, so do the flowers our bees visit. Early summer blooms offer different nectar than the wildflowers blooming later in the season, giving each harvest its own unique flavor, aroma, and beautiful golden color.

No two harvests are exactly alike—and that's nature doing what it does best.

Every jar of Bee Boyse Honey is a snapshot of Southern Alberta's growing season.

🍯 Have you noticed the subtle differences between our honey from one season to the next?

Fun Fact #3: One Bee Doesn't Make Much Honey... But a Colony Does! 🐝

Did you know a single worker bee produces only about 1/12 of a teaspoon of honey during her entire lifetime?

It may not sound like much, but when tens of thousands of bees work together, they create the delicious honey we all enjoy. Teamwork truly makes the dream work in the hive!

Every jar of honey represents thousands of flights, millions of flowers visited, and an incredible amount of hard work from nature's busiest pollinators. 💛

Honey Lavender Ice Pops (No-Cook)

Light, floral, and refreshing—perfect for hot summer days.

What you'll need:

2 cups water
2 tbsp dried culinary lavender (food-grade)
1/3 cup raw honey (adjust to taste)

Lemon zest (optional)
Ice pop molds + sticks

How to make it:

1. In a heat-safe bowl or jar, steep the dried lavender in 2 cups of hot (just boiled) water. Let sit for 10–15 minutes.
2. Strain out the lavender flowers and let the infused water cool to room temperature.
3. Stir in raw honey until fully dissolved. Add lemon juice and a little zest if using.
4. Pour mixture into ice pop molds.
5. Insert sticks and freeze for at least 6–8 hours, or overnight until fully solid.
6. To release, run molds briefly under warm water and gently remove.

Welcome back to Fun Fact Friday!

Fun Fact #2: Bees Seal Honey with Wax When It's Ready 🐝

Once honey reaches the perfect moisture level, bees seal each honeycomb cell with a thin layer of beeswax.

This natural "lid" protects the honey and keeps it fresh for months—or even years! Beekeepers know it's harvest time when most of the honeycomb has been beautifully capped with wax.

The bees know exactly when their honey is ready, we simply let them do what they do best. 💛
