Holly Hill Farm We are a family farm of free-ranging animals. We welcome guests to our petting farm, birthday parties, special events, and kids camps. Pre-booking needed.

Our barnyard is open mid-Mar through Oct, and our Christmas Stable is open in December. Vancouver Island's only petting farm with BABY WALLABIES!! Holly Hill Farm is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10-3:00. Drop in for just $10 per person (cash or e-transfer). We also host special events, educational opportunities, kids camps, and exclusive Wallaby Meet & Feeds where you get to bottle fee

Our petting farm is open every Friday, Sat & Sun, 10-3:00, from March/April through October, as well as again during December to host our magical Christmas Stable! Alongside meeting our wallabies, guests are also able to feed, pet, and hold chickens, pet mini-goats and mini-donkeys, and feed sheep, as well as enjoy our alpacas and horse too! You can also hold baby bunnies and see where all the animals live. Booking is needed for special events. Our birthday parties run on weekends during the season, and consist of a two hour slot where you enjoy our picnic area for the first hour, and the petting farm for the second. Farm Facts & History:
*Farm purchased in the early fifties by owner's grandparents, Danny & Mary McKenzie, & Dr. Dick & Mary Murphy (land was purchased as part of a larger mass consisting of most of Campbelton and the downtown core of Campbell River. Later, Danny & Dick split the land, and Danny kept the Holly Hill area. He subdivided it and kept a portion of the land as a hobby farm).

Years and years and YEARS ago, Kit was actually a fancy show horse! This was way before she was mine, cause I’m not fancy lol.
As the story goes, she broke her pelvis in the riding ring and was put in a field to either get better or… not. Against the odds, here she is at 36ish still being her awesome, radtastic self!
She might be a little crooked, and we haven’t ridden in ten years, but she is hands-down the best horse to ever exist. I’m officially ruined for all others! ❤️

I’ve been diving into happiness and longevity research lately (all that “Blue Zone” stuff), and the data keeps pointing to the same truth: happiness isn’t about optimization, productivity, or wealth.
Instead, humans thrive when we are:
* Connected to a community
* Spending time with animals & nature 🐾
* Useful & working toward meaningful goals
* Active & challenged
* Getting enough sleep
It got me thinking about the farm… and not to toot our own horn, but have you visited lately? It accidentally checks a lot of boxes. (And hey, if you need to hit that sleep marker, you’re welcome to nap on the bench lol). 🌲🐰🐣

We’ve got a bit of a boy band vibe going on here lol But they are actually our Crested Ducks, a breed that dates back to the 16th century! That fancy pom-pom top-knot hair style isn’t actually made of extra fluffy feathers. It’s a unique genetic trait where a small fat pad forms over a gap in the skull, causing the feathers to grow outward in a perfect little flow! -the more you know!!

Sassafrass 🩵 He might have a spicy name, but he is the gentlest soul on the farm. Well, him and sweetie Kit the horse! Sassafrass is a lop-eared rabbit, which means he is genetically blessed with ears that frame his face like a permanent hug 🥰
Did you know? When Sassafrass is feeling extra content while being petted, he might softly click his teeth together. It’s called “tooth purring” and means you are doing an excellent job giving him love. Another cool fact; because his eyes are high and on the sides of his head, he can see nearly 360 degrees. The only blind spot he has is right under his own nose!
