Not the most helpful rock picking helper...
Sleeping on the job.
Refuses to pick up rocks.
๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿคฃ

The questions a rock picker asks themselves while picking rocks that seem to never end...

If I leave the little rocks, do they grow bigger rocks?
Do they multiply?
Is it like seed for more rocks?

Riddle me this.
Mystery of the day(so far) before my unending rock picking adventure... ๐Ÿ˜‚

2 bulls in the same pen.
A very secure pen.
Gates all shut. Double gates between the cows and bulls, a single gate/fence between the yard heifers and the bulls.

Both bulls out this morning.
One with the cows.
One with the heifers.

From one secure pen into 2 different pens.

Bovine drama ๐Ÿฎ

The big one is back in the pen.
He's not allowed to breed the heifers.
I'll get the young one back in this afternoon once I'm done in the field. ๐Ÿ™„

Neverending.
I'd still choose this way of life over the city any day.

If they are too much of a pain in the rear walking around here, they're very tasty on a plate...๐Ÿคฃ

*ROCK PICKING!!!*
SOOO MUCH FUN!!! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Seriously though, I like rocks.
Just not in the field where it might break equipment.
And not having to pick them off the field ...๐Ÿ˜†

This is what we were doing here last night, not exactly entertaining but it needs to be done.

My helper(dog) wasn't very helpful.
He was moral support...I think...๐Ÿค”
I kept telling him to find the rocks or pick them up but he wasn't bothering to help...say 'load up' though and he jumped in the box of the truck faster than I could say it ๐Ÿคฃ

Jordan was in the tractor in the dust cloud mostly.
Working the oat seed in a little so the birds wouldn't keep eating it...grackles, starlings and ravens were out there early on last night, along with a couple prairie chickens lol.

He helped me for a bit but then we had to split up to cover more ground/jobs. And honestly, the field work was way too bumpy in the tractor for my neck, so I'd rather do rock picking ๐Ÿ˜†
If he saw me with a rock that was too big and he was anywhere close he'd stop the tractor and come running over...he made packing the big ones look easy ๐Ÿคฃ.

If anyone wants to join the fun I'll probably do more tomorrow... I'll be in the field until I can't pick up anymore rocks.
Whether that means there was too many and I literally, physically can't pick them up...
Or they're all picked and the field is pristine ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ€
(Higher probability of the first option...lol)

Still have to harrow, then seed the hay seed on this field, then work up the other field and broadcast the oats and Brome, work it in, harrow, then seed the hay seed.

We are definitely not impressed with the money we spent on getting the field worked last fall, the disc missed a lot and didn't turn out great.
If my neck could have handled it I'd have saved $16,500 and done it myself.. especially since we are reworking it now because it wasn't good enough.
Hindsight. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

Fingers crossed for getting it done and seeded quickly, some moisture to grow it all, and a lovely crop to feed the creatures that need it:)

Looking better than it was!

Off to unload my pile of rocks from last night now!

The littlest troublemakers.
Pretty cute bunch โค๏ธ

They like to chase after the dogs because they're curious.
Then the mommas chase after the dogs because they are too close to the calves ๐Ÿ˜‚
It's kinda funny to watch the dogs eyes get bigger and start running when they see the mommas coming fast lol

Protective bunch. They're good mommas.
3 left to calve still.
Taking their time. That's ok though.

The hair. ๐Ÿคฃ
She's got her own style this girl!

The heifers weren't really touchable last fall at weaning...but now I can scratch them all somewhat. ๐Ÿ˜Š
This one especially loves scratches.
She didn't want to be touched until about a month or two ago... now she's wanting me to give her attention every time she sees me ๐Ÿ˜‚
Came up behind me yesterday and nudged my butt with her head lolll.
Half Angus, half piedmontese.
Such a mellow little lovey heifer.
Super sweet, just like her momma Red. โค๏ธ

Also doesn't have a name...
I'm not great at thinking names up.
Eventually something might pop into my mind, but maybe not hahaha.
Some just get named after their mothers ๐Ÿซฃ๐Ÿ˜†

Any name suggestions?

They are beautiful โค๏ธ
And I hear they make good wine, salve, and I know that dandelions make fantastic honey!
Though we don't have any bees this year to make it ๐Ÿ

Hopefully the clover and alfalfa comes in there that I seeded too! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ€๐ŸŒฑ

What would you do if you found this many tiny spiders had hatched right beside your door...?

We had a chat yesterday. I told them that the outside world would be much better for them, many bugs and greenery to web on..they didn't seem to listen though, there was webbing all over in there with little spiders migrating to where they thought the best plants/spots are ๐Ÿค”
Sooo, I relocated a bunch this morning...outside, closer to the garden..๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ•ท๏ธ
There's a lot that are still trying to live next to the door... by the table...where I usually sit...๐Ÿคฃ
I can't imagine how I'd deal with that if I had a spider phobia โ˜ ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ณ.
Thankfully I don't... probably because I know that where we live in the north, there's no really deadly spiders lol.

I told them to start eating aphids and thrips off the plants, hopefully they listen... hahaha.

Though they are tiny, and brand new to the world, they are amazing web creators!
They have some beautiful webs built already ๐Ÿ•ธ๏ธ
Many that I probably ruined walking around and watering plants...I guess they will move to better spots or keep practicing their web building! ๐Ÿ˜…

Nature sure has amazing creations.
The beauty around us โค๏ธ
