Never a bother that we've ever noticed.
Rarely ever see her but she likes the oats this year apparently 😆 and the cubs do too, they look like quite the little chunky babies haha.
They weren't listening to her very well or I wouldn't have been able to get pictures from the tractor 😂.

This is most likely the reason that the cows are a bit more aggressive running the dogs out of the field lately.
I didn't realize how much they would chase the dog until walking across the field yesterday and having to send him away through the fence so they didn't get him, he wasn't thrilled with that because he feels he needs to be beside me at all times.
If he's not working them, then he's a target apparently, poor guy. Glad he's faster than they are because they really wanted to flatten him it looked like, the whole herd on a flat out run towards the dog 😆.
Anytime he tried to come back in, they'd run toward him again!
Thankfully they recognize me and don't chase me too...unless it's for scratches. Lol.

I'd bet the cubs have been curious about the cows.
Cows hazing them off is good, if they imprint that on the bears, then they won't be too quick to think cows are dinner.
I'd like to think that if I were walking around, the cows would protect me... I really doubt they would, more likely they'll mow me down while they run away, but maybe. 😂
They're a bit of an odd bunch, one likes to run away and the others chase things haha.
The calves and yearlings are usually leading everyone on the chase!

Pretty happy bears from the look of it. Green grass in one pasture beside them, oats in the field, and a dugout for water right close.

She's a pretty good bear if you have to have a bear for a neighbor :)

These 2 bull calves will be available at weaning time!
Probably later October/early November.

The tan with white face is half piedmontese and his momma is simmental cross, polled. 85lb bw approximately.

The white bull calf is half piedmontese out of a Charolais cross momma. He was the bull out of the twins we had this spring that got grafted onto the cow that lost hers.
He was probably 70lb bw. He's catching up nicely to the other calves even though he started smaller!
Polled.

Haven't worked with them but they're pretty calm.
Both their mothers are super quiet and scratchable.
Everyone comes when called.
Our herd is quiet with the one exception of a steer named freak show 😆.

Keep them for breeding or beef!
The piedmontese influence adds more lean muscle onto the animals, and the beef has a built in tenderness gene!!🥩.
They'll be great either way.

I was going to keep them till spring but gotta get some money flowing!

Door can be cut bigger if needed.
Was mainly used for mini goats, did really well for them in all seasons with some straw in it for bedding.

We have the same type in the chicken and goose pen too, they like using it.

About 20 little hens are 👀 for new coops because it's a bit crowded here!
Barred rocks, Sex-sal-link brown layers, Red rock cross(Barred Rock/Rhode Island Red Cross), Rhode Island Red, Red Sussex Cross.

These are great laying chickens just starting their egg laying careers.
They'll give their new coop plenty of eggs for a long time:)

I love seeing how they turn out while they grow ❤️

Very impressed at how well #1 bull calf is growing with his first timer mom! 😍 Tiny little udder but he's doing wonderful! He's either 3/4 or 7/8ths piedmontese, id have to check my records for his mom.
#2 heifer calf isn't far behind! Her momma produces fantastic calves every time though, so she's doing well with this one. 3/4 piedmontese.
#3 heifer calf is looking great too. Her momma is the biggest cow here, so that gives her a bit of a size boost too 😆. 1/2 piedmontese.
#4 bull calf wasn't around for a picture but he's also doing great. 1/2 piedmontese.
#5 is a freemartin(heifer twin to a bull, sterile most likely)
She wasn't around for pictures either but she's looking fantastic! Such a shame she's not a keeper for breeding.
#6 is the twin bull calf that we grafted to the cow that lost her calf, he's turning out really well for being the tiny twin! His adopted momma is 3/4 piedmontese and they seem to put a bit extra in their milk!! 1/2 piedmontese.
#7 is a bull calf, his momma has some age on her but he's doing well for being a later calf! 1/2 piedmontese.
#8 Maisie is having fun tormenting the shepherd because she knows he's not allowed to tell her off 😂
She's growing well for being a tiny little thing too, her momma has tons of milk though so she gets more than enough to eat! 1/2 piedmontese.
#9 heifer was MIA for pictures as well, but doing great!
She had a head start on size being the biggest calf born, she was born a month after Maisie was but weighed more than Maisie was! A big girl!
She is half Braunvieh from the bull I got last fall to clean up the cows Lance missed...
Lance couldn't get the job done so he was fired...on the BBQ now...very tasty. 🥩

The cows are doing a great job I think! ❤️

Especially with the slow calving season from Lance being a dud.
I always like keeping a bull calf back just in case the main bull has issues, but we didn't have that option when we had Lance around.
After noticing cows were still cycling last summer, I took some I couldn't feed to auction and picked up Xeno on the way home!
I wasn't too fussy on breed at that point.
He's pure Braunvieh, and the mellowest temperament I could have asked for.
I haven't decided if I will keep him or not, but he's a nice big guy. I'd say at least 2500lbs lol. Huge.
He got to breed the bigger cows this year.
The yearling 3/4 piedmontese bull got the heifers, they're all unrelated so it worked great!

Excited to see how these calves finish and how next years calves look!
So very grateful for a good growing year for everything!

The chicks I got in May are starting to lay adorable little baby eggs!
🪺🐓🐥

I think I have a few extra pullets (young hens just starting or ready to lay) available for new coops too, mostly red layers, and some red-rock cross.
And some roosters available - ameraucana(blue egg), barred rock, and one wyandotte rooster.

Grateful to be back with having more eggs to eat, even though they're tiny at the moment 😆🥚🍳

Pic has one normal sized egg and 5 pullet eggs.
