A night I'll remember for a long time ❤️

Last night, some of my staff invited me as a special guest to celebrate Onam, an important festival from Kerala in South India, where many of them are from.

Throughout the night they taught me about the traditions behind Onam, the Pookkalam flower carpets created throughout the 10-day celebration, wearing new clothes, families coming together, and the memories they have from celebrating it growing up back home.

Each family brought a dish to share. There was food, dancing, games and a lot of laughs. I was also honoured to be gifted traditional clothing to wear for the celebration.
But one of the simplest moments of the night probably stayed with me the most.

We played musical chairs.

I honestly couldn't remember the last time I played it, probably when I was a kid.

I said to Vimal afterwards that we spend so much of our lives moving fast. We grow up, work, build careers and businesses, take on responsibilities and constantly think about what's next.

But deep down, I think so much of what we're chasing is actually pretty simple to feel some of the joy we felt as kids.

And for a few minutes last night, running around chairs, laughing and trying not to be the one left standing, I felt exactly that.

Listening to everyone share stories about celebrating Onam growing up made me understand why traditions like this matter so much. It's not just the food, clothing, flowers or games. It's the memories attached to them family, grandparents, friends, childhood and home.

Building Fuel Your Body has brought a lot of unexpected things into my life, but getting to know people from different parts of the world and being welcomed into moments like this is something I'm especially grateful for.

Last night wasn't about work. I was a guest, learning, listening, laughing and experiencing something that means a lot to them.
