ROBERTSON’S HOBBY FARM — 2026 HATCHING SEASON UPDATE 🐣

Our 2026 hatching season is almost officially over! 🥹🐥

We have ONE final hatch starting tomorrow, and then the incubators can finally get a well-earned break. 😂

After a season full of incubators, candling, waiting, surprise colours, losses, exciting hatches and a whole lot of chicks, this is where our 2026 season has brought us. ❤️

🐓 Picture #1 — The Roosters
🐔 Picture #2 — The Hens

And I have to say… I’m pretty darn happy with that hen-to-rooster turnout! 👀😂

This year was our Foundation Year — hatching from our different breeding pens, watching traits develop, learning what each pairing is producing and deciding which birds will eventually move forward into our breeding projects.

We’re not selling any more birds right now. These guys are staying here to grow out so we can properly evaluate colour, feathering, structure and the traits developing in each of our lines.

There are already a few VERY interesting little birds hiding in these groups. 👀🖤🤍

Now we just have to see what our final hatch of 2026 brings us! 🥚🐣

One more hatch… then grow-out season begins! 😅❤️

🌩️ STORM-VEIL PHOENIX — FOUNDATION YEAR UPDATE 🌩️

Look who’s growing up. 🩶🖤

Storm-Veil continues to be one of the birds we’ve been watching closely from our 2026 Foundation Year. What started as a little project chick is developing into this gorgeous smoky steel-grey bird with darker charcoal shading throughout the neck, wings and tail.

Every new set of feathers seems to change the look just a little more. 👀

This is exactly why we chose to grow out our Foundation birds instead of judging them too early — sometimes you really have to let the genetics unfold.

Storm is showing:
🌩️ Smoky steel/blue colouring
🌩️ Dark charcoal neck shading
🌩️ Beautiful darker feather edging
🌩️ Increasing contrast through the wings & tail
🌩️ A look that is becoming VERY recognizable

And we’re definitely not finished watching this one develop. 👀🌩️🩶

🩶🖤 STEEL-ASH SERIES — DAY 50 UPDATE 🖤🩶
Robertson’s Hobby Farm Foundation Year 2026

Remember our little Steel-Ash chick that started out looking basically half black and half white?! 👀

Well… LOOK AT IT NOW. 🤯

At 50 days old, Steel-Ash has completely transformed. What started as bold blocks of black and white is feathering into an incredible mix of steel-grey, charcoal, silver and white, with detailed patterning developing across the wings, back and tail.

The biggest surprise has been the head! That dark little mask from Day 20 has almost completely changed into a soft silver/ash streaked appearance.

This is exactly why we love documenting our project birds as they grow. Sometimes the chick you see at hatch gives you absolutely NO warning of what’s coming. 😂

🐣 Day 20: Bold black & white
🐥 Day 50: Silver • Steel • Charcoal • Ash

Steel-Ash is officially staying on our Foundation hold-back list while we continue watching how the adult plumage develops. 👀

🍂 Mossy-Ghost Veil Phoenix

The Mossy-Ghost Veil Phoenix is one of Robertson’s Hobby Farm’s original Foundation Year projects, created to explore rich woodland tones, subtle contrast, and distinctive Veil Phoenix characteristics within the Foundation Collection.

From the day it hatched, this chick surprised us with warm mossy-gold down, soft cream highlights, and delicate ghostly undertones. Its natural woodland colouring gives it a unique appearance unlike any other Veil Phoenix we’ve hatched so far, making it one of the most intriguing birds in the Foundation Year.

As it matures, we’ll be watching closely for feather development, colour transitions, body type, and the elegant traits that define the Veil Phoenix collection. Every stage of growth helps shape the future of this developing line.

Like all Foundation birds, the Mossy-Ghost Veil Phoenix represents a step toward creating a distinctive, carefully developed Robertson’s Hobby Farm bloodline.

Current Appearance

* Warm mossy-gold down
* Soft cream chest and belly
* Gentle ghostly undertones
* Bright orange legs
* Dark, expressive eyes
* Natural woodland-inspired colouring
* Hatched from a “mossy” green white speckled egg

🌙 Lunar-Halfmoon Veil Phoenix

The Lunar-Halfmoon Veil Phoenix is one of Robertson’s Hobby Farm’s original Foundation Year projects, developed to explore elegant contrast, graceful structure, and unique feather expression within the Veil Phoenix Collection.

From the moment it hatched, this chick stood apart with its striking silver-grey hood, creamy body, and soft moonlit appearance. As it continues to mature, we’ll be watching for refined feather patterns, flowing type, and the calm, elegant presence that inspired its name.

Like every Veil Phoenix project, each bird is evaluated over time before becoming part of the next generation. Every hatch teaches us something new, making each Foundation bird an important step in building the future of this collection.

Current Appearance

* Soft silver-grey hood
* Cream to pale ivory body
* Bright orange legs
* Dark expressive eyes
* Gentle, moonlit contrast

Storm Veil Phoenix 3 months and 21 days update.

Robertson’s Hobby Farm – Foundation Year 2026

The Storm Veil Phoenix is one of the signature Foundation Year projects at Robertson’s Hobby Farm, carefully developed to combine graceful structure, flowing feather quality, and breathtaking storm-inspired coloration.

At just over three and a half months of age, this young pullet is already displaying many of the qualities we envisioned for the line. Her soft blue-gray plumage is accented with darker edging, creating a lacing affect. Which has created a layered “storm cloud” effect across her back and wings. She carries herself with a balanced frame, clean legs, and a calm, curious temperament.

As she continues to mature, her tail and overall elegance are expected to become even more pronounced, showcasing the distinctive beauty this project is striving to achieve.

The Storm Veil Phoenix represents more than a single bird. It represents the beginning of a carefully planned breeding program focused on producing unique, high-quality birds with exceptional appearance and character.

🐣 Why are our chicks priced the way they are? 🐣

This is a question we’ve received quite a bit lately, and we wanted to take a moment to explain.

Every chick that leaves Robertson’s Hobby Farm represents much more than the day it hatches.

❤️ We collect, sort, and carefully incubate every egg.

🔥 We provide heat, clean bedding, fresh feed, and clean water from day one.

🌾 We spend time handling, monitoring, and caring for each chick to give them the healthiest possible start.

🩺 We continuously check on their health, growth, and development before they ever leave our farm.

🧬 We also invest countless hours into planning our breeding pens, selecting foundation stock, keeping records, and building our breeding projects generation by generation.

When you purchase one of our chicks, you’re not just paying for a baby chick—you’re supporting:
• Quality care
• Time and dedication
• Feed and supplies
• Heat and electricity
• Selective breeding
• Healthy, well-started birds
• A small family farm working toward long-term breeding goals

We understand that our pricing won’t be the right fit for everyone, and that’s perfectly okay. Every breeder has their own goals, methods, and pricing structure.

At Robertson’s Hobby Farm, our focus has always been quality over quantity. We’d rather raise fewer chicks with the care and attention they deserve than produce large numbers just to lower prices.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support our journey through our 2026 Foundation Year. Your support helps us continue building the future of Robertson’s Hobby Farm—one healthy chick at a time. ❤️🐥

Raised with purpose. Bred for the future.

🖤 Velvet Series – Foundation Year 2026

This young hatchling is already showing the rich, velvety appearance that inspired the series name. Deep black down is complemented by a soft smoky-gray chest and underbody, creating a smooth, elegant contrast. With bright eyes, confident posture, and beautiful early coloration, this chick is one to watch as its juvenile feathers begin to emerge.

🐣🥚 LOCKDOWN UPDATE – THE HATCH HAS BEGUN! 🥚🐣

The incubators are coming to life here at Robertson’s Hobby Farm! 🎉

We currently have 52 eggs on lockdown, and chicks have officially started hatching!

🥚 Pen #2: 14 eggs
👻 Pen #3: 10 eggs
🩶 Pen #4: 13 eggs
🖤 Pen #5: 15 eggs

Over the next couple of days, we’ll be welcoming dozens of new Foundation Year chicks as they make their way into the world. Every hatch is a surprise, and we can’t wait to see the colors, patterns, and unique traits each pen produces this season.

We’ve already had some exciting arrivals—including our beautiful white Frosted-Moon Ghost—and there are many more still to come!

As each chick dries and settles into the brooder, we’ll begin evaluating them individually and sharing photos and updates along the way.

Thank you to everyone following our 2026 Foundation Year journey. Your support means the world to our family and our farm! ❤️🐣

🤍🌙 Meet Frosted-Moon Ghost 👻❄️

One of the newest additions to our 2026 Foundation Year has officially arrived!

Frosted-Moon Ghost surprised us by hatching with beautiful snowy-white down, instantly becoming one of the most eye-catching chicks of the season. With bright eyes, a calm curiosity, and an already confident stance, this little one has certainly made a memorable first impression.

It’s still far too early to know what the adult plumage will look like, which makes the journey ahead even more exciting. We’ll be sharing regular growth updates as new feathers emerge and this unique chick begins to reveal its true appearance.

Welcome to the world, Frosted-Moon Ghost. We can’t wait to watch your Foundation Year story unfold. 🤍🐣✨
