Now since he is halter broke and learning to lead at just 6 weeks old, I thought he should also be saddle broke 😂 well saddle pad broke for now. His mama Daisy was done with her work, so Tiger got to wear her clothes for a bit. He didn't react at all, that boy sure has an old Soul. If you look closely at the backs of his front legs, you will see his Tiger stripes.

He will be available at weaning

Today, while mama Daisy was being trained to ride, Tiger man became officially halter broke. The boy is 6 weeks old with the soul of an experienced cow horse 🥰 He bit me when I put the halter on 🤣, but I just scratched his withers and he let me put the halter on, add a lead rope, lift his legs to inspect his bitty hooves... just keep the scratches coming and we are good. And here he is on his way out again after the work session

Not every horse needs to be Grand Prix. Many horses are advertised as “FEI potential,” but that promise only matters if the rider has the skill, time, and coaching to reach those levels. Most of us ride for the quiet joy of connection and steady improvement. My first dressage horse, Wotan, was a 14 year old schoolmaster who taught me to ride—he rewarded correct aids and forgave mistakes. Wotan prepared me for taking on my lovely Tesse , a 5 year old, who was lightly started. She became my heart horse, the Queen of my stable and my animal soulmate. If you’re an amateur rider, look for ridability, balanced gaits, good conformation, and a forgiving temperament. Those are the horses that will teach you, keep you safe, and stay sound for years.

I am writing a blog from the perspective of a breeder and will publish it shortly. I hope you will read it :-)

Daisy had her first foal this year, gorgeous grulla boy who is now just over 6 weeks old. Daisy has had a lot of in-hand training but had never been backed before. We decided to get her started under saddle and see if this is a job she would enjoy. Daisy took it all with such calm, poise and genuine enjoyment of the entire process. Her little boy Tiger, helped along as co-trainer when he was not busy trying to sit on my lap and get in some hugs.

Bugatti - Be Sure/Blue Hors Farrell starting to look like a big boy. I was brushing his lovely mamma Feline and he kept interrupting and wanting attention. So I decided now was as good a time as ever to introduce him to a halter. He LOVED it ... I mean just look at his expression when I told I was going to take the halter off again, him saying "You talking to me? " . He will not be wearing a halter outside the safety of the stable yet, but halter training for me starts when the horse is ready and willing; just like all other aspects of training. And yes, he has mud on his face from being outside galloping up a storm with his brother Bentley.
