We’re thrilled to once again host the Comox Valley Wh***ey Festival at the beautiful Native Sons Hall in downtown Courtenay! This historic gem — the largest free-span log building in Canada — offers the perfect atmosphere for an unforgettable evening of tasting and connection. Built in 1928, it has seen weddings, dances, concerts, and celebrations of all kinds.

How do you say it? And what does it mean? 🥃

You’ll hear it more than once at Wh***ey Fest, so let’s get it right:
“Sláinte” is pronounced “SLAWN-chuh” (Irish) or “SLAHN-tchay” (Scottish Gaelic).

This classic Celtic toast translates to “health”, much like saying “cheers” — but with a bit more soul.

Used in both Ireland and Scotland (the homelands of many of our featured whiskies), “Sláinte!” is more than just a toast — it’s a wish for well-being, a shared moment of connection, and a nod to tradition.
