We will now be taking a short and well-deserved break.

But before we go…

Thank you to our volunteers who have helped pack and distribute all the bags of ugly fruits and veggies.

Thank you to the people who led our fun summer workshops in home composting, foraging, mushroom spawning, and pickling.

Thank you to everyone who helped keep things growing in the community garden in Dingwall.

Thank you to the Cabot Volunteer Fire Hall for providing the space for us to run our programs.

Thank you to the Cape North Farmer's Market for giving us a table where we could share and chat all things food.

Thank you to Feed Nova Scotia, the Island Food Network, and Home Hardware Ingonish for their generous support.

We will be back in November with more bags of uglies to feast on and some new winter food programs. Until then, share and enjoy the harvest!

We will definitely be at the Cape North Farmer's Market this coming Saturday!

We expect to have some local garden produce for sale, pay what you can. If you have any produce to sell or donate from your own garden, let us know so we can arrange collection or drop-off.

We will have exciting information about the next ugly veggies distribution date!

We will also have t-shirts!

This will be our last market table for the year. So please plan to join us.

Do you expect to have excess produce from your garden this year that you would like to sell?

This year, we will be supporting the Highlands Healthy Living Program at the North Highlands Nordic. Commencing on November 3rd, this new program will offer weekly meals and educational presentations to local adults aged 55 and above. We have committed to provide $1,000 worth of local fresh produce across the first eight sessions.

The menu will be decided by the coordinator of this program. But there is sure to be a need for common items such as potatoes, beets, carrots, tomatoes, and more.

If you expect to have an excess of any produce from your garden this year, contact us to discuss.

We will be at the Cape North Farmer's Market today. We have a few baskets of leftover ugly veggies from our distribution yesterday - corn, mushrooms, potatoes, beets, cucumbers. We also have all sizes of our "we root for each other" t-shirts.

(Note that we will not be taking orders for ugly veggies at this time. We will let you know when we resume distribution in November.)

Pick up for bags of ugly veggies is today from 11.00 until 12.30 at the Cabot Volunteer Fire Hall. The bags are full this week - potatoes, beets, oranges, peaches, mushrooms, carrots, corn, cucumber. Last one until early fall. Only 10 non-reserved bags available.

If you are free from 10.00 and would like to join our pickling workshop, please come along. This is also taking place at the Fire Hall. Join our volunteers to help make up some jars of mustard pickles to share in the community.
