It’s that time of year again… it’s FAIR SEASON!

We have a busy month ahead, with 10 days of showing over the next 4 weeks! Believe it or not, we’ve already been showing for the past 4 weeks, including two local fairs. This is our final weekend off before the final push!

It is so important to support these local gems. We are seeing local fairs across the province struggle and, in some cases, disappear altogether. We refuse to see that happen here, and we’re doing our part by entering as many classes as we can!

We’re planning to show in 100+ classes over the next 4 weeks and are so excited to be competing in a variety of disciplines, even when they aren’t necessarily our specialty. Why? Because why not?!

So many of these fairs are incredibly welcoming and offer awesome opportunities to expose your pony to different environments, try new things, and gain experience without the pressure of a traditional show environment. We love getting out, supporting our local communities, and letting the ponies experience a little bit of everything.

September 25 — Carp Fair
September 26 — Carp Fair

We have followers from all over the Ottawa region and beyond, so we encourage you to get out and support these local events whenever you can!

And if you see us, come say hi! Sparky and Hank will be running the circuit this year, and we’d love to see some familiar faces along the way.

When your husband asks if we have any tomatoes… yeah! Here’s a 5 gallon pail of 1+ pounders 🫠

Our ‘pink and dark’ tomatoes (don’t ask us the real variety… we have no clue) are one of our favourite meaty and jumbo tomatoes! We use them for sauce and for the best tomato sandwiches! 🤤

Moving up in the world! Our first farm stand, which served us so well for the last five years, has officially been retired. We built our new one with our own two hands, and we couldn’t be more excited to see it become part of the farm.

We’re looking forward to growing our offerings and continuing to expand our ability to help feed and provide for our community.

There has been some talk in the community about farms and homesteads competing against one another, but that’s never how we see it. We believe in raising our fellow farmers and producers up. In a food desert, there is never too much food and there are never too many people growing it. We need as many local producers as possible to keep our communities fed.

Our goal is to have the new stand in full swing next year, but this fall we’ll still be putting out our usual offerings, along with a few special items.

Here’s to growing, building, and supporting one another along the way. ❤️

If anyone would be interested in our old farm stand with secure money box, we have it for sale for $100. It will make you way more than that!

Miss Independent doesn’t just grow pumpkins that turn into cucumbers, she also likes to plant her yearly sunflowers by stomping in seeds we give her. 🐓🌻

We always enjoy finding her little patches of happiness. ❤️

Once the sunflowers are done we harvest the seeds for chicken snacks through the winter and the cycle starts again.

We help feed over 40 regular community members. In a food desert with no grocery stores within 10-25 minutes for most residents, local farms are imperative to our rural landscape.

Our Pumpkins are ready! 🫠

We thought Miss Independent 🐓 planted us some pumpkins early in the season. Good thing we went to check on how the pumpkins were doing. Turns out we are making pickles! 😂

The last pick of the season.

Every time we say goodbye to another growing season, it feels a little bittersweet. We watch some of our strongest plants begin to fade, knowing they've given everything they had in their final season. Their work is done, and in that, there is something incredibly beautiful.

Many people would say, "They're just plants." But spending time connected to the land has taught us otherwise. We often see ourselves as separate from, or even above, nature, when in reality, we would not be here without Mother Nature and all she provides.

There is something deeply humbling about being connected to the earth. Witnessing the changing seasons, feeling the rhythm of the land, and embracing the circle of life is an experience you will never regret.

Thank you, Mother Nature, for another beautiful and bountiful red and black raspberry season. Until next year. ❤️
