Most evenings, when the sun starts to settle, the fog comes home here…

What a privilege it is to witness this almost daily.
Across the back acres and trees, through the garden, and over every little growing thing, offering a drink from nature — a quiet reminder that this land has its own rhythm, and there's a bit of magic around us🌱

🐝🦆 A little farm life update from Fungi Fresh Acres!

The bees have been keeping us on our toes lately. One of our colonies decided it was time to reproduce, and I got to witness a swarm leave right in front of me — a conveyor belt of thousands of bees pouring from the hive, gathering in a nearby tree, and then heading off to start a new adventure.

It was incredible to watch (and a good reminder that no matter how much we plan, the bees always have their own ideas 😉).

The good news? They also rewarded us with our first honey harvest of the season! 🍯 We pulled 20+ litres of beautiful, ripe honey that tested at 18% moisture — exactly where we want it.

And while I was busy chasing bees, apparently Dustin’s Duck Department has been quietly growing up. 😂

Our Muscovy, Cayuga, Runner, and Khaki Campbell ducks have gone from tiny fluffballs to full-sized farm personalities. They’re now professional bug hunters, pond inspectors, and general farm supervisors.

Tiny animals, big personalities. That’s life around here. ❤️

🐝 Queen spotted! 👑

Success! I finally found the queen in our split hive, and she's looking healthy, calm, and busy getting back to work. This is one of the most rewarding moments in beekeeping—proof that the split was successful and the colony is moving in the right direction.

Every strong hive starts with a great queen, and I couldn't resist sharing this little glimpse of her with you. 💛

🌿💛 Thank You! 💛🌿
Yesterday's Farmstand Social was everything we hoped for and more.
Thank you to everyone who visited the farm, shopped, sampled goodies, painted mushrooms, met the animals, wandered the property, and spent part of your day with us. It was such a pleasure seeing familiar faces and meeting so many new ones too.
We were completely blown away by the support. The cookies sold out, most of the baking disappeared, and we received so many kind comments about the hand pies, cakes, preserves, mushrooms, and bee products.
One of our favourite parts of the day was simply getting to chat with people. Sharing what we're growing, making, baking, and creating here at Fungi Fresh Acres is something we genuinely love and do with great pride, and your support means the world to our family.
Thank you for supporting local, small-scale farming and handmade products. Also a very special thank you to Brett and Keidun Hobbyist, we loved having you join us!💛

Things are getting busy around Fungi Fresh Acres 🌿💛

Over the last little while we’ve been baking, growing mushrooms, welcoming new bees to the farm, and getting ready for our next Farmstand Social!

One of the things we’re especially excited to share is this vegan & gluten free birthday cake we recently made for a friend’s family celebration. The response completely warmed our hearts 🥹

What meant the most wasn’t just that everyone enjoyed it—it was hearing that people genuinely couldn’t believe it was both vegan and gluten free. There’s something really special about creating food that doesn’t feel like a compromise, and hearing people rave about it long after the celebration reminds us why we love doing what we do!

Because of that, we’ll have some vegan & gluten free options available at our upcoming farmstand, along with a variety of homemade baking and canned goodies 🌿

A few things you’ll find at the event:
🍄 Homemade mushroom hand pies featuring our own oyster mushrooms, wrapped in rolled pastry with thyme, smoked paprika, onion & garlic filling
🍪 Fresh baked treats
🍯 Jams, pickles, salsa & infused honey
🐝 Bee-based skincare products (including a new lip balm inspired by our Moose momma and baby, Moose Smooch!)
🍄 Fresh oyster mushrooms & lion’s mane
🧵 Handmade market bags & aprons

We’re also excited to have our friend Brett from Keidun Hobbyist joining us for the day with additional mushroom offerings, helping us bring even more fungi goodness to the farmstand 🍄

We’re also planning a little kids activity area with mini concrete mushrooms for painting & decorating 🍄🎨
