I think the only reason I’m disappointed about how short his pre-program is during the day is the reality of how little help I have if and when I do need help, I genuinely just have no one to reach out to.
The few family members I still speak to unfortunately won’t watch Kai due to his autism, he isnt welcome in their home. It’s always been easy for me to find childcare for my oldest two children, but for Kai has been a completely different story.
Although I LOVE spending time with him. Nothing makes me happier then being around him. But he takes A LOT of energy up and I admit-tingly do need breaks.😂
I have considered putting him into a new childcare part time that can transport to his prek program. But this current daycare he had been at since he was a baby.
This one staff member adores Kai so much. She basically work’s as an aid for him as much as she could without being paid to actually do it and still staying within the classroom ratio. They had a lot of extra patience for him despite his autism, and also kept him in the toddler room after his third birthday this year because they knew he did better in that room, rather then moving him to a new room which I appreciated it. They watched Kai grow up so they always knew how to meet his needs and what he needed.
Trusting a new daycare with my autistic child now at this age when he has sensory issues, and needs A LOT of personal space to avoid him biting… I just really don’t think that’s a good idea😭
