It's been a lovely break, but we're delighted to let you know we'll be back Capital Region Farmers Market this Saturday. We've been busy planting and catching up on admin and building a website and moving back into our house 😅, and it has been very hard to ignore the flowers during this time. My brain struggled seeing flowers budding without picking them! (Although my body definitely enjoyed the break from harvesting). We've got lots of beautiful proteas for you this week, and more of those magical, open-in-a-vase over-a-couple-of-weeks calendula. See you there at Stall #179.

This week the weather has been running the show. The rain (😁😁😁❣️❣️❣️) and wind earlier in the week meant I got a chance to do the bookwork and some website work. But even though I got drenched this morning checking the fence after last night's wombat wars (we lost), the sun came out to play from about 10am and I got aome planting done.

It's been so cold working outside the past couple of days. Yesterday afternoon it got to the point where I couldn't feel my fingers anymore, so I gave up and came inside and did some work on our new website. Today it was pretty similar, although at least the wind wasn't as bad today. The past two days I've been planting out hundreds of seedlings 🌱 (thanks to Local Seedlings | Canberra 💚) , fighting more wombat wars (the wombat is still winning), putting up some temporary fencing, and working on the website when I've reached the point where I'm frozen solid.

It felt a bit like I was creating a cage forest today. The rabbits are still getting into the house paddock when the wombat pushes through overnight, so all the perennials we plant meed to be caged so the 🐇 🐇 🐇 don't destroy them. We are down to only two wombat holes a night now (I hope I haven't jinxed myself now), so fingers crossed tonight is the night he gets stymied. Today I made cages and then planted out some native perennials we'll use for foliage and flowers in future years.

More cage forest.... the cages look huge, and they are pretty big. Some of them will probably be swapped out with the ones on our proteas, but I didn't have the energy for that today. (It's sposed to be my day off.... 😅)

She looks like she's being a good dog... And she was, until she decided to start digging up one of my newly planted beds. It's amazing how sheepish a maremma can look!

Cut and ready to wire the ends together. I used to do that with clip rings and a hand crimper, but now, I have a fancy new battery clip gun that does it with one press. We should have got one years ago! Not only is it way faster, but it saves my wrists. (Except for the weight of it.... it's way too heavy).

My favourite bolt cutters. So much easier than using wire cutters.

It's been a bit of an emotional roller coaster lately. We finally pulled the plug on moving, made plans to stay, and developed a full business plan around staying. Then we got to work. But as so often happens, after we did that, we received an offer that was up where we needed it to be. But we are so, so, so tired after more than a year of trying to sell. We needed some certainty and time to recover., and we couldn't find a place elsewhere that would work for us. So we aren't moving. And because we aren't, we can focus on things we've needed to do for a long time.

Like.... caging plants and upsizing cages on some of our proteas. Planting new plants. Taking stock 🤣 (and planting lots of stock 🌱). Breathing slow and enjoying the view.

Thanks to all of you who encouraged and helped us through the past year+ of stress and anxiety. Thanks to our fabulous agents of the past couple of months Bradys Real Estate who got quick results (even though we were too worn out from the previous year to take it up). 🥰 And thanks to Local Seedlings | Canberra for the beautiful seedlings!
