🌬️🌳 What a wild night on the farm!

The wicked wind that blew through last night left us quite the surprise this morning.
A large tree came down right in the bird area, somehow missing 69 out of our 70 farm birds, the coops, pools, shelters, and fencing.
We are incredibly thankful that the damage wasn't worse and that everyone is safe.

Unfortunately, one of our birds wasn't as lucky, and has suffered a broken leg. We're not sure she'll make it but we also don't want her to suffer 💔

Now comes the big cleanup!
Branches, leaves, and debris are scattered everywhere, and it's going to take some time and hard work to get everything back in order.
Farming certainly keeps us on our toes, and Mother Nature always has a way of reminding us who's in charge.

We're counting our blessings today, grateful for the safety of our animals and thankful that buildings and shelters were spared.
Here's to chainsaws, wheelbarrows, and lots of coffee! ☕🌳🚜

Have you ever wanted to experience the excitement of hatching your own baby chicks, ducklings, or goslings? Our Custom Hatching Program makes it possible! 🐥🦆🪿

Here’s how it works:
🥚 Choose the type of eggs you’d like incubated
💛 A 50% deposit is required upfront to reserve your hatch
🐣 The remaining balance is due once hatching occurs

Pricing:
🐥 Chicks — $6 each
🦆 Ducklings — $10 each
🪿 Goslings — $15 each

Please note:
• No guarantee of breed or s*x of bird
• Pick up as day olds is preferred
• If not picked up as day olds, additional care fees may apply depending on the length of stay.

Possible breeds may include a variety of chickens, ducks, and geese from our hobby farm flock! 🌿

The natural "bloom" or "cuticle" on unwashed farm-fresh eggs preserves their shelf life.
This waxy coating seals the shell's pores, keeping bacteria out and moisture in.
As a result, unwashed eggs can:
- Last weeks on the counter
- Last months when refrigerated

This year on our hobby farm, we decided to plant only herbs because they’ll have so many wonderful uses around the farm and daycare! 🌱✨

This year we’ll have:

🌼 Marigolds
💜 Lavender
🌿 Dill
🌱 Spearmint
🌿 Thyme
🌿 Oregano
🌱 Sage
🌿 Rosemary
🍃 Sweet Basil
🌿 Siam Queen Basil
🍋 Lemon Balm

These herbs have many beneficial properties for our birds, and the daycare kids will be able to touch, smell, and even eat some of them while learning about gardening and nature. We’re also excited to use some in our cooking activities too! 🍝🌱
