Aaand the storage onions are harvested! With a little less smoke in the air we enjoyed a beautiful morning getting them in. We were gifted beautiful mesh bottomed crates that used to hold gladiolus bulbs over winter and we thought they would be great for drying out the onions in. Thanks Twig Creek Farm for connecting us with the farmer who had these!

We have a pretty full farmstore here at Song Hollow Farm, its stationed right at 11 Old Sicamous Road in Grindrod (just past Farmer John's Market, follow the 'Farm Store' signs). We accept both cash and e-transfer payment with an honour box system, so come stop by and check it out!

We are very excited to vend at this year's Grindrod Garlic Festival coming up next Sunday Aug. 16th!
If you or anyone you know is good at hardneck garlic bundling/braiding, and good at teaching, please reach out via PM as we are looking for a volunteer to teach the Garlic Bundling workshop to participants between 1:30-2:30pm.

There are also a few competitions that are available for public submission to be voted on by festival goers or judges to win various prizes, with categories including best Garlic Art (winner's art is featured on next year's promo material!), best softneck garlic braid, best hardneck braid, most varieties grown by one person, larges garlic bulb, and most uniquely shaped garlic bulb. If you are interested in submitting an item, please stop by the events tent in the baseball backstop and fill out a form before 11am.

First of the cauliflower was harvested today, destined for Sicamous Farmers’ Market and LFI Revelstoke Farmers Market this weekend! We also got into some garlic harvesting of our early varieties yesterday to celebrate Canada Day, so that will be on the market table in a couple of weeks. Pre-ordering is available on our online storefront weekly until 6am Fridays, so check out our link in the bio to be directed there!

Hilling the onions with our 1954 Farmall Super A tractor, which features the then high-tech 'Culti-vision' offset engine so the driver can precisely cultivate the crop they are mechanically weeding. Still very applicable to organic producers now to keep the weeds under control!
