Building on the momentum from our International Agroecology Brigade in May 2026, the National Farmers Union in NS is inoculating communities across Nova Scotia / Mi'kma'ki with Local Agroecology Brigade Coordinators (LAB-Cs). The vision of a group of farmers and workers and community members rotating from farm to farm like giant beneficial insects, lending helping hands and exchanging skills, has already come to fruition with the "Valley Brigades" local region who are on track to complete 6+ local agroecology brigades by this Fall. Now we want to see it happen all over NS / Mi'kma'ki!

Perhaps your community is next!

The NFU NS is looking for four (4) members to be part of the LAB-C team that will support the organization of local agroecology brigades across NS / Mi’kma’ki.

It's been 2 months since our International Brigade (these photos are from when we were planting a food forest with farm.to.feast ) and NFU NS members have been so inspired that they have already carried out 3 local Brigades!

This speaks to the effectiveness (and fun) of getting together and working side by side.

Canada’s food strategy finally names the problem: corporate concentration. 💥

But naming the problem isn’t the same as solving it. 🧩

Food security starts with fair prices for farmers, strong public institutions, and community-controlled food systems. Not more deregulation, AI, and corporate power.
